This is not the first time that Microsoft has used “SE” to refer to an operating system. More than 20 years ago, the company released Windows 98 Second Edition (SE) , an improved and updated version of this system with fixes and new functions. Since then, we have never seen a “special edition” operating system again, until now.
What is Windows 11 SE?
Although we do not know what the acronym SE means, it most likely has nothing to do with Special Edition. According to the latest clues we have been able to find about this operating system, Windows 11 SE could be a new ” Cloud Edition “, a low-power, high-performance Windows edition designed to use cloud-based applications and UWP. It is what in Windows 10 we know as ” Mode S “.
Although almost no one was betting on this Windows capped, in the end it has managed to be quite successful. Many manufacturers decided to sell their low-end notebooks with “Mode S” activated, and in the education sector it has also been quite successful. For this reason, Microsoft could have decided to create one more edition of its new operating system: Windows 11 SE.
This new operating system would be the successor to the current Windows 10 in Mode S. It will share all the basic functions and features of the Home, Pro, Enterprise and Education editions of Windows 11, such as the round corners, the start menu or the toolbar. chores.
