Windows 10 Launches News and Interests: Section with News and Weather

Microsoft constantly tests new functions and features in Windows 10 . Little by little what we are going to see with 21H2 is being outlined, but the company will include news even in the current versions of the operating system without having to wait until the end of the year. The weather widget is going to be one of these functions.

Users of the Windows 10 Insider program have had a new section called News and interests (which they probably translate as News and Interests ) for weeks now. Now, this function will be reaching users of the stable version of the operating system without having to wait for one of the two big annual updates.

Windows 10 Launches News and Interests: Section with News and Weather

News, weather, stock and traffic: everything at a glance

This new section can be customized to the user’s taste, receiving information about the weather in their area, and watching news based on interests that we can customize to our liking. With this, we can comfortably keep up to date with news in a similar way to what Google Discover offers on mobile phones. Here we can see news, weather, stock and traffic information at a single glance.

windows 10 noticias intereses

This option to manage interests is very comfortable, and respects more privacy than Google . If we don’t like something, we remove it, and if we like it, we just have to like it to show the system that we want to see more information related to that content.

In addition to the interests, we can also choose new own sources, as long as they are available within Windows News , since there are many technology media in Spain that do not come out. We can also customize the way in which the information is displayed, to choose between only text without photos, as well as remove the traffic information if we are not interested, or that of the bag.

We can disable or customize the content that appears

The feature will be active by default, but can be easily disabled. You just have to right-click on it in the task bar, go to News and interests, and set that only the weather icon is visible or deactivate it. We can also choose that the window opens when we let the mouse pass over it, not even having to click it. Unfortunately, in icon mode, you can only see the weather icon as such, and you can’t choose to display the temperature alone, or at least the temperature next to the weather icon. Hopefully in the future they add the option.

The launch of the feature will continue over the next few weeks, starting today. The company is going to launch it little by little to users, and it will be necessary to have Windows 10 1909 or later . If we install the Patch Tuesday of May, which will be released on May 11, we will have it activated by default even before 21H1 arrives, which is expected to arrive at the end of May and is called Windows 10 May 2021 Update .
