The normal thing is that we all have our files organized and classified in folders. In this way, when we need to find a specific file, we can find it relatively easily. However, if we do not know where a file is (a song, a photo, a document, etc.), Windows 10 allows us to search for it in several different ways. One of the most used is to do it from the file explorer bar itself, although this method has an error that, in addition to slowing down the search, prevents us from being able to quickly find the file we want.
The Windows 10 file finder allows us to apply filters when searching for a file . Thanks to them, when the list of files is very large we can eliminate all the files that we are not interested in to find the one we want more quickly. However, this search engine has several problems. In addition to consuming a large amount of resources (and even the explorer.exe process often crashes when searching), also when trying to apply filters, the browser crashes and does not finish loading them.
This problem has been present in the operating system since the November 2019 Update. And, although it seemed that Microsoft had forgotten about it, it seems that in the end it will be solved. And, with the new Windows 10 21H1, this problem is finally gone.
Windows 10 21H1 fixes explorer.exe problems
Just yesterday, Microsoft released a new beta build of Windows 10 21H1. This was full of changes, improvements and corrections throughout the system, but one of the corrections that most attracts our attention is that of this explorer.exe problem.
Microsoft has not only significantly improved the performance of the Windows file explorer, but has also fixed other problems such as, for example, the one that prevented the filters from showing when searching for any file. From now on, using the Windows 10 search function will be much faster, it will allow us to find our files without problems and we will avoid crashes or excessive CPU uses.
Of course, we must bear in mind that not everything is perfect. Although most of the problems have been fixed, there is still a strange bug that can cause the search function to stop working at any time. And this, it seems, is not going to be solved in the short term.
The new version of Windows will arrive full of patches
Windows 10 21H1 is already around the corner. After the new build that has reached beta users, Microsoft has not indicated any bugs and bugs that remain to be fixed. There may still be a minor issue that will be fixed before launch or on the same day that the new version begins to reach users, but, broadly, the new spring 2021 update for Windows 10 is ready .
If we already have the 2004 version of Windows 10 installed, or its 20H2 update, updating to 21H1 will be a quick and automatic process, bringing our PC up to date in just a couple of minutes. Otherwise, we will have to do a full system update, and that will take more time (and will increase the probability of errors).
