The app formerly called mytaxi changed its name to FreeNow some time ago with the aim of making a mobility app that sets you free, for all your plans. With it, they claim to take you wherever you want quickly and safely, you can hail a taxi on the street and pay with the application or travel to more than 170 cities in 16 countries. It gives you freedom of movement. Although there are different mobility options, in Spain they only offer the taxi service, which is very good.
However, there is something that worries some users, as it can happen to you. You may find that in the FreeNow app no taxi hails you and you don’t know what’s going on. You may have ordered a taxi before without problems or it may be your first time in the application, in any case we tell you what can happen.
There is no taxi or they do not pick me up, what happens?
If you find that you are going to order a taxi and it is impossible to do so, we will tell you what are the possible cases to which it should be, although the most common is that in the application itself you are informed of what may be happening. It may also be that, after requesting one and having confirmed it, a taxi driver decides to cancel the trip and does not take you where you want.
If you can’t order a taxi in the app, several things can happen:
- You don’t have the updated app. In this case, you will have to update the app to the latest version. To do this you will have to go to the application store of your mobile, search for it and update. If you want, you can turn on automatic updates so you don’t have to keep an eye on it every time there’s a new version. This is a frequent problem among users who have not used or updated the app for a long time, and especially those who used it when it had the other name.
- You have not verified your phone . Without a verified phone you will not be able to use this service.
- You are underage. If you are a minor, you will have to travel with a responsible adult, otherwise the taxis will not accept you or they will not be responsible.
- There is a high demand. It may happen that there is a high demand that causes that there are no taxis available. In any case, they will notify you from the application and it is recommended that you wait a few minutes before starting a new taxi request to avoid problems. Wait a bit and check if there are already taxis available. It may also simply be that there are no taxis available in the area at the time.
- Service not available in your area . You may have installed the application without knowing that the service is not available in your area, but in certain specific cities. If you have made sure that they offer this service or have requested it more times, it is possible that there is a high demand at the moment.
- The payment method you have selected is invalid . It could be that the card has expired or has expired, that the card details are incorrect, that you do not have enough money or that there is something wrong with this payment method that prevents you from using it normally or charging it.
- Are you traveling with a pet? It may also be the case that you have decided to travel with your pet and, unless it is for service, taxi drivers are not obliged to accept this type of trip. There are a limited number of drivers that allow animals to travel, so if you have indicated that you are going with a small pet, you will find it difficult for the taxi driver to take you wherever you want. In addition, you will have to travel with the carrier or mandatory restraint, otherwise they will not be able to take you.
- There are no vehicles adapted to your situation at that time. It is possible that there are taxis without the baby seat, if you travel with babies and do not bring your own, or that there are no adapted vehicles at the moment.
