Regardless of the version of Windows 10 in question, the operating system itself brings with it a series of pre-installed applications. We find these as soon as we start the software for the first time in all cases.
For many users these pre-installed programs are nothing more than an annoyance that takes up space unnecessarily. On the contrary, the firm based in Redmond, what it intends with this is that we have programs from the first moment. In this way we will not need to install third-party alternatives to start working. Each party has its own point of view, and in addition Microsoft succeeds, at least in part, in promoting its own solutions.
The most serious problem in this regard comes later. And, as we mentioned, Windows 10 includes several integrated applications, but some cannot normally be uninstalled in the conventional way. At some point, this might be possible using PowerShell or some third-party application that specializes in these tasks. The fact is that it is not always easy to get rid of some of these apps.
Some Windows 10 apps cannot be uninstalled
What’s more, as the years have passed, Microsoft has added more applications to the list of uninstallable programs in Windows 10. Similarly, in the most recent feature updates we can easily delete part of the pre-installed applications that we never use. For example, we can do this from the Start menu itself. To give us an idea, at this time we can even uninstall the mythical Paint or Notepad.
However the problem comes with some exceptions that are immovable. This is the case, for example, of some of the most important applications. These cannot be uninstalled, as is the case with the Your Phone or Microsoft Edge application . Following the latest Windows 10 update, Microsoft confirmed that it removed the uninstall option from the new Chromium browser. This means that once it is installed, it can no longer be removed unless we do it with the command-based PowerShell tool.
In fact the firm itself has already explained in the past that some applications cannot be removed due to a more complex problem than it seems. This is based on how these applications interact with each other and with Windows 10. For example, pre-installed applications may be linked to something else important in the operating system.
Reasons why we can’t erase Edge or Your Phone
Now, Microsoft declares that Edge Chromium is regarded as an essential component of the operating system. This is used to support applications that depend on the web user interface, such as payment or login platforms. Because of this, the company considers the default web browser to be an essential component within the operating system and cannot be uninstalled. And something similar happens with Your Phone, hence the decision made by the system developers.
Likewise, Microsoft points out that the Your Windows Phone application cannot be uninstalled, as we mentioned, because it is highly integrated into Windows so that we can use the cross-device functions. In the case of uninstalling these items using PowerShell commands, the Windows 10 experience would be seriously impaired, Microsoft says.
