And that is precisely one of the strengths of this system from Huami, the company behind Amazfit, since power consumption is much lower with this operating system. Therefore, what users of the brand get are some of the watches with more autonomy on the market, without giving up the characteristics that really matter to them. And it is that with Wear OS of Google something similar happens to Android or Windows, compared to iOS or MacOS.
They are huge operating systems, with a lot of weight, and that require a huge amount of resources that in the end ruin the part that is really important in a mobile device, such as operating efficiency . That is why it is rare that in the future we will see an Amazfit watch with Wear OS, simply because it is doing very well with its own operating system, at all levels, and it does not make sense to change something that is working properly.
No dependency on Google apps
While in Android mobiles not having Google apps and services is almost tragic, in the case of wearables, it is not. Nothing happens for not carrying Google Maps, Gmail or the Google search engine, because what users are looking for in a wearable are other things. For example, we are talking about good health monitoring apps, accurate, and interesting dials to personalize our watch, and all this with a remarkable autonomy, which can sometimes be several weeks.
The rest is an accessory, and although Wear OS is an extraordinary system in options, in many cases it is too great a burden that compromises the performance of the device. And it is that the keys to the success of Amazfit watches, fluidity of performance and autonomy, can only be achieved today with its Zepp OS, and not with Wear OS, hence it is unlikely that we will see the latter in its watches. We must not rule out a specific model , but of course we will not see it as its default operating system, things should change a lot.
