If your Samsung TV does not work, there may be many problems that may be causing an error in the image, sound or Internet connection. Whatever the problem, your Samsung TV has a function that will tell us that it is failing and make it easier for us to fix it. We will know where the fault is in a matter of seconds.
Luckily, whatever happens, we can easily fix it. If your Samsung TV is failing for any reason, you can go to its settings to do a Self Diagnosis of your Samsung Smart TV . This is a series of tests available in the settings menu where we can check that the image, sound or Internet connection work well. Once we have done these tests we can restore to the factory if we want to restart the television or reset SmartHub if the Internet does not work correctly. It will only take us a few minutes to do all the tests.

Self-diagnosis at Samsung
To get to Self-diagnosis, the steps are as follows:
- Turn on the TV with the remote control
- Tap the menu button on the controller
- A series of options and subsections will open along with icons
- In the menu on the left, choose the one with the cloud icon: Self-diagnosis.
In Self-diagnosis we will find a list of options that help us verify that everything is in order or that there is no failure or error on our television. We can do it without help, without the need for a professional or a technician. They are tests to verify that the image, sound or signal is correct. In case it doesn’t work, it also allows us to restore.
- start image test
- start sound check
- signal information
- Start SmartHub connection test
- Reset SmartHub
- Restore
All the tests and menu options are very fast, it will only take us five minutes to do a complete diagnosis before contacting Samsung customer service if we continue to have problems with our Smart TV.
Start image test
By touching this option we will start an image test on the television in which it will show us the instructions first: a test photo will open for five seconds. A pop-up window will explain what is going to happen, tap on “OK” to display the image on the screen. Doing so will display a photo for five seconds. After this time they will ask you again: “Do you still see the problem in the test photo?” Choose between the three options:
- Yeah
- No
- show again

If the problem is fixed or you don’t see anything you think is an error, the image test will end here. If you have not solved it, Samsung proposes more tests:
- Check connections and devices
- Reset Picture by selecting Settings > Picture > Expert Settings > Reset Picture
- Update the software to the latest version from Settings > Support
Sound test
The second option that we can choose is “Sound test”. Use the arrows on the remote control and choose this section in the menu. A kind of noise will automatically start to sound on the TV and a pop-up window will appear : “Do you still hear the problem in the test sound?” Choose yes or no to see what happens.

Smart HUB connection test
If you want to check that everything is correct in your Internet connection, choose “Smart Hub connection test”. You won’t have to do anything. The TV will simply check that it connects correctly to the home router and that the router is correctly connected to the Internet. Once the checks are done, it will be enough to press “Close” knowing that everything is fine.
If the test fails, check the connections:
- Check if the WiFi password is spelled correctly
- Make sure the WiFi network you connect to is yours
- Test the Ethernet cable in case it could be failing
- Make sure the network port you connect it to works
- Check that there is nothing interfering if you have WiFi

Reset Smarthub Settings
Beyond the four previous tests, we find an option that tells us “Reset Smarthub”. What does it allow us? What we do here is deactivate and activate again the intelligent part of our computer. We format what is dedicated to “Smart” and not the rest.
You do not lose all the television settings, but only the applications are uninstalled or the activity or session you have in them is deleted. It is useful if your television gets “caught” when you start an application or does not work as smoothly as we should.
We simply have to use the arrow buttons on the remote to get to this section and it will not ask you for the PIN code , which is 0000 if you have not changed it before. Confirm that you want to reset Smart HUB and wait a few seconds. After a few minutes you can enter the browser again or reinstall applications that you want to use regularly.

Restore
If none of the above works, we can tap on “Restore”. Just use the arrows on the remote menu to get to the last section. Here it will ask us for a PIN code to carry out the restoration of the television.
The default PIN is 0000 and once you write it, a window will appear informing you about what will happen: the factory default settings will be restored and you will lose the language, the time, the date. Confirm with “Yes” and wait a few seconds or a few minutes for the process to complete.
