Right now we have two types of Huawei phones on the market, some have all Google services and others with Huawei services. For this reason, the former can download and manage all kinds of apps from the Android store, while the latter will do so from the brand’s own store, App Gallery.
Although the stores may seem similar, they are not so and the resolution of problems related to app updates will be very different from one to the other.
Huawei phones with Play Store
If you can’t get your apps to update correctly on a smartphone that has Google and Play Store services, the first thing you should do is check if you have everything properly configured. At this point you must configure automatic and manual updates.
- Automatic update of apps : Configure your applications to update automatically by entering the Play Store and displaying the side menu. Scroll to the bottom until you enter the Android Store Settings. Here you will find the option to automatically update applications in the Google Play Store. Check that you have the option “On any Network” or “Only via WiFi” checked according to your needs.
- Update applications manually : Once again, access the Google Play Store and click on the menu in the upper left corner. Select the first option, “My apps and games” from the drop-down menu. Here you will find all the applications that have received an update but have not yet been installed. You can select one by one or click on Update all to download the corresponding updated versions of all the applications.
What if it doesn’t work?
If neither automatically nor manually you can update apps on your Huawei, do the following: Access the Phone Administration app and deactivate the lock screen cleaning for all applications. Then turn Airplane mode on and off, then go back to the Google Play Store and try to download or update an app again.
If it still doesn’t work, install the latest version from the Android store manually. You can download the APK from this link .
If after trying all these solutions it is still impossible for you to update apps on your Huawei mobile , you will have to factory reset the device, which will delete all the data in the memory and the mobile storage, including your account settings, the settings of the system, application data, installed applications, music, pictures, and documents.
Make a backup of your data before restoring the device by going to Settings> System and updates> Backup and restore
Huawei phones with App Gallery
Although the stores are similar, the process to update apps manually or automatically is different in the App Gallery, since many apps are not present in the store.
- Automatic update of apps: Open Huawei AppGallery from the home screen and click on your profile at the bottom of the page. Select the settings menu at the top and you will find secondly the option to enable the automatic update via Wi-Fi, data or in any way. If you opt for the Wi-Fi only option, make sure the battery level is above 30% and that the phone is obviously connected to a Wi-Fi network while charging.
- Update applications manually : Once again access the App Gallery and click on your profile in the bottom bar. The first thing you will find is a notice of pending updates in the Updates menu. Upon entering, you will be told the apps that have a new version and, if they are in the App Gallery, just press update to download them.
If the app, such as WhatsApp, has a new version but it is not available in the Huawei app store, you will be redirected to the official website of the program so that you can download the APK manually. For this, you must allow the installation from unknown sources from the security settings of your mobile.
What if it doesn’t work?
Actually, if you cannot update apps in the App Gallery , the steps to follow to solve it are the same as for mobiles with GMS. The only peculiarity is that to update the APP Gallery you must access the app store itself and in your profile, at the end of everything, you will find the option to update the store.
If there are no pending downloads, factory reset the phone.
