Microsoft does not stop for a single week when it comes to the development of Windows 10 . Users enrolled in the operating system Insider program receive new builds every week with all kinds of new features, both in terms of functions and optimization, that little by little are shaping the next updates of the operating system. But not everything is new as far as this OS is concerned, and it is that, thanks to some builds, it is also possible to know some functions that were proposed but that, finally, have been canceled. And 2021 is going to bring a lot of trouble in this regard.
Recently, Microsoft has released the new build 21277 for targeted Insider users within the DEV channel. This will probably be the last compilation of news that we will see in 2o20, leaving the next updates and changes for after the first week of January 2021 . And although Microsoft indicated what were the news of this build in its corresponding release notice, it seems that, in the end, this compilation hides much more than it seemed.

Hidden news in Windows 10
Archive apps
Similar to some mobile operating systems, such as iOS, Microsoft wants to allow us to archive apps that we do not use. Archiving an application is what it does is uninstall the programs from the PC, but save the data generated from said app in the cloud. In this way, if in the future we need to use it again, we can download it again and, automatically, this data will be synchronized.
Cleaning recommendations

This new feature will be part of the popular Windows “Storage Sensor”. Thanks to it, users can see recommendations of the operating system itself to free up space. Although Microsoft has not specified how this function is going to work, it is believed that what it will do is tell us when there are very large files that take up a lot of space and when we have apps installed that we do not use and that are taking up space, among other functions. It will also help us eliminate caches and temporary files from the PC.
Battery monitor

Windows 10 could receive a new battery manager very soon. This would allow us to obtain much more detailed information about the activity of our system, the screen, the apps that spend the most and much more.
Thanks to it, we will be able to see graphs of consumption of 24 hours or 7 days to control both the use of the PC and the useful life of the battery.
New options for the taskbar

Microsoft wants to bring all the customization options from the taskbar to the Settings menu, something that, on the other hand, makes sense. For now, the only option we can see here is to show or hide the Timeline button, although others should come later.
Lock screen improvements
Another novelty in Windows focuses on the lock screen. This will also receive an improvement, and that is that you can access the accelerometer information to rotate the background of the touch devices.
Canceled news that won’t make it to Windows 10
Sets, the explorer tabs

Although some media have claimed that Microsoft was working on this feature again, it is actually false. For those who do not know it, Sets is one of the most anticipated functions for Windows 10 with which Microsoft experimented in 2018. Thanks to it, it was possible to open several windows within one using tabs. The concept is the same as that of a browser, but for any app or window.
Sets-related functions have appeared in some builds before. And it is always an error, remains of code that, probably, is not commented as it should be and is compiled. But Microsoft has already said it several times (and says it again): Sets is canceled.
Timeline with location
Microsoft also wanted to make the timeline more useful by adding data related to our location. And for that he was going to use mobile phones. However, Cortana has been removed from Android, and Timeline from the Microsoft Launcher, so it is less and less likely that this project will be a reality.
What’s more, we could say that, seeing the trajectory, not only will we not see the timeline with location, but this function could even disappear from Windows.
