What is Huawei’s Camera 4D Predictive Focus

Huawei has always been known for integrating many camera functions related to AI. In addition, and although at the beginning they were functions destined to its most powerful and expensive high-end terminals, little by little they were reaching all kinds of price ranges.

Although Huawei terminals have manual or Pro functions, the vast majority of users prefer to point, shoot, and have the terminal do the rest. For this reason, many of the most interesting functions are intended to help achieve better results in our photos, when various external factors make the work more difficult. In this case, tools such as Huawei’s Predictive 4D Approach come into play.

What is Huawei’s Predictive 4D Focus?

The so-called 4D predictive focus with AI , allows the camera of our Huawei mobile to automatically detect a moving object and follow it, while adjusting the focus in real time to help you capture a sharp photo. The function is found in the Settings menu, which is found in the upper right side of the screen, and by activating the corresponding box.

Use tips

For AI-powered 4D Predictive Focusing to work properly, we’ll need to make sure that the camera is stable and that there is a clear contrast between the foreground and background, so that subject movement can be detected and there is no interference. Its activation makes sense when the photos in motion that we have taken with our mobile are too blurry.

For the function correctly, we must also take into account other important aspects:

  • Do not touch the viewfinder to focus : the focal length of the previous focus is retained for a certain time. In that case we will have to reopen the camera to activate 4D predictive focus with AI.
  • That the distance is not too short: if so, the laser sensor may not be able to detect changes in the subject’s position and the function may not be activated.
  • Very dark environments : we will have to avoid low light situations, since the sensor will not distinguish well between the subject and the background.
  • Very fast or very slow movements: Predictive 4D Focus with AI, cannot follow objects that are moving too fast. Conversely, if an object is moving too slowly, the laser sensor may not detect changes in the subject’s position.
  • Subject to follow too small : the function will not activate before subjects in movements too small, even if we touch the screen to focus it manually.
