Generally, the most advanced sound technologies remain reserved for the high-end, as companies have yet to justify the price differences, even as the line gets narrower. Many of the flagships of the major companies integrate Hi-Fi, but what is this technology really and how does it work?
What is Hi-Fi?
When we talk about Hi-Fi, we are actually referring to “High-Fidelity”, which we can translate as High Fidelity. This technology aims to offer a very high degree of similarity in terms of sound quality. Hi-Fi is considered to be able to perfectly recreate the original recording sound or images, with a precise resonant frequency and no distortion. In general, many audio files such as FLAC, WAV, or even 320 kb / s MP3 music are best listened to in Hi-Fi mode. Note however that battery consumption may increase when using the Hi-Fi chip.
Why activate it
The first reason to activate Hi-Fi, if it is available on our mobile, is that the quality of the music or videos will offer a purer sound experience without loss of quality . We can activate it whenever we want to enhance this aspect, which makes more sense when we connect to headphones, or to an external device such as Bluetooth speakers, sound bar etc …
Where is it on our mobile?
As we say, only some terminals, generally high-end, integrate this technology. However, it is a function that we must activate from the terminal itself, so it will take a few seconds to find out whether our device supports it or not. Generally we will find this option, in the sound options of our mobile. We can also use the faster method, and look in the search box of the settings: “Hi-Fi” or “Hi-Res” to go to the function directly.
In addition, we can see a list of applications compatible with the function. In this way, we can choose those in which it will be activated automatically and the one that will not. As we see in the example, in general, it offers compatibility with all the most popular audio apps on the market, but also with others capable of displaying multimedia content in the form of video or audio, such as the most popular social networks.
