On June 5, Marvel Studios revealed the first poster and the release date of the new series I am Groot , which will tell us about the adventures of the favorite tree of all fans of the Marvel universe. This new production will be made up of a series of shorts in which we will see Baby Groot escaping from danger and having fun along the way and will mark the second time that Disney has decided to experiment with the same strategy seen in the successful (and important for the UCM) What If…?

Although to this day it is unknown which characters we will see in the series, in addition to the endearing talking tree, if we let ourselves be carried away by some storyboard that has been revealed, everything points to the fact that in some chapter we could see Drax, a character who is the comic counterpoint in many of the scenes in which the Guardians of the Galaxy appear. Of course, it is still unknown if Dave Bautista will play the character again, something that seems unlikely if we remember the farewell that he published on social networks at the end of filming the third installment of the franchise.
It must be remembered that in the series of What If…? Another voice actor was used to bring Drax the Destroyer to life in the second chapter (T’Challa Star-Lord) of the Marvel Studios anthology. Of course, what seems to be confirmed is that it will be Vin Diesel who will voice Baby Groot again.
One of the features that has caught the attention of the followers is the fact that a photorealistic style animation will be used , so it seems that it will be difficult to distinguish the animated elements from those that have been shot from real scenarios. Thing, by the way, that the official poster does not respect.
One of the good news of this series is that James Gunn, director of the film trilogy of Guardians of the Galaxy , participates as executive producer, so, at the very least, it promises to be a festival of jokes and trademark action .
When can we see it?
Marvel has decided to unravel the unknown that weighed on this series and has set an official date for its premiere on Disney +, which will arrive on August 10, 2022. Then we will see what the evolution of the character will be from the movies and, also, its importance , role and influence within phase 4 in which they will continue to participate. Proof of this is that we expect to see the Guardians of the Galaxy in Thor: Love & Thunder. In just a few days.
As a curious fact, to say that those in charge of this new animated series made a reflection on the character of Groot a few days ago. They remembered when a good part of the technical team, during the filming of the first film of the Guardians of the Galaxy, did not even remember that the character existed since, although Rocket had also been generated by computer and his movement actor moved all over the set agitatedly, the interpreter of Groot watched still, in silence, how everyone passed by without paying attention to him.
Now, in the new I am Groot series, no one can say that this tree is not on the scene and that it is the main and absolute protagonist.
