Now, with Suggested Publications, the idea is that when you get to “You are up to date” what you see are not only old publications of your contacts but those of others that the platform and its algorithms think may interest you based on your interests and activity within from the platform.
It may seem a little bit substantial, but the truth is that it works and it is very likely that you will continue to scroll and spend more time using Instagram. Something that in the end is what all these applications and services really want, even if they offer tools such as Digital Wellbeing on Android, Airtime on iOS or Instagram Activity itself.
How to view old posts on Instagram
You’ve probably wondered if you can still see old posts from your contacts instead of the suggested ones. The answer is yes, you just have to perform a small additional action instead of continuing to do the scroll gesture that we all already have internalized.
When you reach the end of the new publications and the message “You are up to date” appears, you will see that just below and before the first suggestion a blue text appears with the message See previous publications. That is where you will have to touch so that it is not the new suggestions but the previous publications of your contacts that appear.
Therefore, you always decide at all times what you want to do and see. Although what Instagram and many other applications will try will always be that you go to the new. Hence, these changes are presented for when you use basic navigation modes and very assimilated by all. Because they will be more effective than if an icon or link had been added to see suggestions. And if not, tell them to the Explore tab that not everyone uses.
