These new security IP cameras from Amazon are really interesting devices, because both the indoor and outdoor models are completely wireless, since they are powered by normal AA batteries, ideal for placing them anywhere in the house without having to have a plug nearby.

Blink Indoor

This Amazon IP camera is oriented to interior spaces, to monitor everything that happens inside our house. Below you can see the main features:

  • Resolution : It has a resolution of 1920 x 1080p, with a maximum of 30 FPS, depending on the conditions. The resolution of the photos is only 630 x 360 pixels. It has a viewing angle of 110º diagonally.
  • Two-way audio : yes, it has both a microphone and a small speaker.
  • Night vision : yes, it has infrared night vision.
  • Connectivity : WiFi in the 2.4GHz band.
  • Power : it is powered by two AA batteries, Amazon estimates a range of 2 years but with a very specific use (few notifications and camera views). It is totally wireless.

The negative part is that it does not have local recording through a micro SD card directly (only on the mobile or with the Blink Module 2). If we want recording, it must be in the cloud, and it is under subscription that we will detail later.

Blink Mini

This camera is the wired version of the previous one, it has a smaller size and is considerably cheaper.

  • Resolution : 1920 x 1080p with a maximum of 30 FPS. It has a viewing angle of 110º diagonally. It does not indicate what the resolution of the photos is, so we assume that they are 1080p.
  • Two-way audio : yes, it has both a microphone and a speaker.
  • Night vision : yes, it has infrared night vision.
  • Connectivity : WiFi in the 2.4GHz band.
  • Power : with a 2m micro USB cable and its corresponding power adapter.

This camera also does not have direct micro SD card recording, only in the cloud and under payment.

BlinkOutdoor

This model is the outdoor version of the first fully wireless camera, below, you can see its specifications:

  • Resolution : 1920 x 1080p with a maximum of 30 FPS and a viewing angle of 110º diagonally. The resolution of the photos is 630 x 360 pixels.
  • Two-way audio : yes.
  • Night vision : yes, by infrared.
  • Connectivity : WiFi in the 2.4GHz band.
  • Power : two AA batteries that allow autonomy of up to 2 years according to Amazon.

This camera also does not have local recording on a micro SD card directly, only in the cloud.

All these cameras have some very interesting features, especially the Indoor and Outdoor ones because they are completely wireless and have a really small size. All models are controlled from the Blink app, which has many configuration options, display options and different motion detection notifications. Of course, it integrates seamlessly with Alexa to easily send voice commands.

If we buy the Blink Module 2 we can store all the videos locally with a storage capacity of up to 256GB via USB type A (that is, a flash drive with a maximum of this capacity), this device allows us to save the videos of up to 10 cameras.

Amazon cloud recording plans

These cameras are quite competitively priced, but where Amazon really makes money is in the cloud recording subscription. The basic version is worth €30 per year and only allows us to store 30-second video clips and a maximum of 2 hours to store, in addition, it only accepts one IP camera simultaneously. The “Plus” version is worth €100 and adds an unlimited number of cameras.

Currently manufacturers such as D-Link or EZVIZ provide local storage via micro SD card without the need to buy additional devices, in addition, D-Link allows up to 1 year of free storage in the Cloud and better prices if you are interested in storing videos longer or Add more cameras.
