How to Use the Mobile as a Webcam on Android or iOS

At some point we have needed a webcam on our computer and we have encountered a serious problem with no solution, although this will no longer be complicated using the tools and steps that we are going to explain. We can make our Android or iPhone mobile become the webcam we need.

Although we can find many methods that allow us to use the mobile camera as a webcam, not all of them work as they should or the steps become too complicated. For this reason we offer you the fastest and simplest options , so that in a few minutes we can be making a video call on our computer without problems. The good news is that we do not need a cable to connect the phone to the Windows 10 computer.

Use the Mobile as a Webcam

Use Android mobile as webcam

The process to transform our mobile and give it added utility to our computer could not be easier for Windows and Android users. We explain the steps you must follow and everything you must download to start enjoying video calls from your mobile with iVCam:

  • We downloaded the application for Windows.
  • We will have to do the same in the case of our mobile, from the Android application store.
  • Once downloaded we start them and just by opening them they will connect automatically if we use the same WiFi network.

If we prefer to opt for our data, we can always manually add the IP address of our computer. We just have to open the applications on the mobile and the computer and enter the IP address manually on the mobile from the “+” button. Once connected we can see how our mobile phone with its rear camera works as a webcam and we just have to find the ideal place to place it.

Use your iPhone as a webcam

In case of having a Windows computer and a mobile with iOS, the process is very similar. We explain the steps to follow so that you can use both the shape camera and the rear camera of any iPhone regardless of the iOS version.

  • We downloaded the application for Windows .
  • We now download the iVCam app from the Apple App Store .
  • After installing them we start the app on our iPhone, connecting automatically if we use the same WiFi connection.

If we encounter an error, we will have to resort to entering the IP address manually , as we have done with Android mobiles.

Options to improve video calls on Android or iOS

Within the application on the mobile we have several options, such as changing the rear camera for the front or even using the flash for the best result. We also have a mirror effect or automatic color correction.

On the computer we also have direct and quick access to these tools on the buttons at the bottom, as well as options to change the ISO or contrast , all because the result is the best.

Use the mobile as a webcam in MacOS

In case we have a Mac computer, the previous alternative is not compatible and that is why we have looked for an option that works with the best quality and in a simple way. The application is called EpocCam and although it is not as complete as the one we have previously known in Windows for Android or iOS, it serves as an alternative for those who use MacOS.

  • The first thing we will do is download the app to our iPhone or Android .
  • Then we will install the necessary drivers on our Mac computer from the official website.
  • Now on our mobile we only have to open the EpocCam application and it will automatically search for a connection point.
  • On our Mac computer we are going to open our preferred app for video calls and configure it.

To do this we will have to adapt the video input source, a process that may seem complicated but is very easy to achieve:

  • We enter the app for video calls that we use in MacOS, for example Skype .
  • We access the configuration section and specifically Audio and video .
  • On camera, as we show you in the image, we have a dropdown that will allow us to change the font for the EpocCam app.

In case we have any problem, it also works by cable connected to the computer, using for example our charging cable. To connect it, we will repeat the same process we have done to change the source of our video call client.
