Every time we hear and read more about Harmony OS, specifically version 2.0 that has already been seen in the Huawei Mate 40, however for now we know almost nothing about EMUI 12 and the possibility that Huawei phones that continue to work, go to receive this update. Both Huawei and everyone in the world seem to have forgotten and although the truth is that for now there is time, in other cases there is already talk of MIUI 13.
The customization layer of Huawei mobiles has been one of the most relevant in the development of Android, offering Google itself ideas that have subsequently been applied to stock Android. This year everything seems very different and we want to try to find out about the possibilities of getting to know the EMUI 12 update or the future that will bring smartphones after the trade war between North America and the Chinese firm, which has led to leave millions of devices on the ropes.
Everyone thinks about the update for Harmony OS
It seems that the situation and future of Huawei phones goes through Harmony OS as a great solution. This is what they imply from China, where the development of Harmony OS 2.0 has had a great boost in the last year. At the same time, we have continued to receive the updates to EMUI 10 and EMUI 11 that is already taking its steps, but taking into account that the devices are less than those of other years and that the rate has dropped.
According to the information we have from the Chinese firm, all or almost all Huawei phones will be able to make the leap to the Harmony OS operating system . An option that would be both in those smartphones with Google services, and of course those that do not have them as a great alternative. Although, what happens if we don’t want Harmony OS? Can we have EMUI 12?
The decision between Harmony OS and EMUI
We will always have the possibility of not making the leap to Harmony OS to stay as we are with EMUI 10 or EMUI 11. However, the outlook is somewhat complicated for users, since all the attention would be on the alternative operating system, Although we do not have Google services and doubts about EMUI 12 multiply.
If we currently had to choose, it seems clear that the majority in Spain and Europe would prefer to stay with the possibility of EMUI 12 to enjoy the classic Google applications as it is a field that we already know and where the failures do not exist. Harmony OS will have to finish developing, to offer real alternatives to what Google has and that does not seem easy.
EMUI 12, but no news
The last option and in which we see many possibilities, is that EMUI 12 will exist as it has happened with EMUI 11 . This would be the simplest and the best alternative for Huawei to continue to have a strong presence in Spain and other countries, without forcing anyone to make the leap to the Harmony OS system and letting time put everyone in their place.
Although the problem of EMUI 12 would be the news, if already in EMUI 11 we have found that everything or almost everything remains the same, in EMUI 12 it would happen more of the same or in a more “exaggerated” way. Huawei needs to put all its strength in the new operating system and an update to EMUI 12 where the only thing we receive are security patches and some customization options, it is not what users want.
In Android 11 we have been able to see news that have not reached EMUI 11, such as quick access to home automation controls. If that keeps happening, everything that places great importance on software will take a different path no matter how much the name changes to EMUI 12.
