If you cannot call anyone, check your signal, Airplane Mode, active SIM or eSIM and carrier account first. If only one person’s number fails, check that contact’s saved number instead. A failed call or voicemail alone does not prove that someone blocked you.

Why can’t I call anyone?
When several normal numbers fail, look for a problem with your phone’s calling service rather than one person’s settings. A browser or messaging app working over Wi-Fi does not prove that mobile voice calls are connected.
- Check for a no-service message and try a location with better coverage.
- Make sure Airplane Mode is off. On iPhone, Apple’s guide suggests turning it on and off with a five-second gap.
- On a dual-SIM phone, check that the line chosen for the call is active.
- Restart the phone and try one known working number.
- Ask the carrier about outages, account restrictions and whether voice service is active on that line.
If you use Wi-Fi calling, confirm that your carrier and phone support it and that it is set up. It is a separate feature, not something every working Wi-Fi connection automatically provides.
Why can I call other people but not one contact?
Type the number in the dial pad to check for a mistake in the saved contact, including the country code when needed. If the number is correct, the other phone may be off, unavailable or using call settings that stop it ringing.
A single busy tone or direct-to-voicemail result cannot tell you which explanation applies. Use another agreed contact method instead of repeatedly calling to test whether you were blocked.
I can receive calls but cannot call out
Try dialing one known working number directly, and check which SIM or eSIM line is selected. If several outgoing calls fail, ask the carrier whether the account has an outgoing-call restriction or a voice-service problem. Being able to answer a call does not prove that outgoing calls are working.
Calls and texts both fail
Check the signal, active SIM or eSIM and account status. Tell your carrier whether ordinary calls and SMS fail together, and whether the problem started after changing the phone or SIM. A messaging app working over Wi-Fi is a separate test from mobile calling or SMS.

What if outgoing calls work but incoming calls do not ring?
Check Focus or Do Not Disturb, blocked contacts and call forwarding. If it happens mainly overnight, review your scheduled notification and call exceptions.
Network reset is a later step
A reset can remove saved Wi-Fi networks and related settings. Record what you need first and follow the model-specific instructions. It is not a useful first response when every other number works and only one saved contact is wrong.
When to contact the carrier
Provide the exact error or announcement, approximate time, location, affected line and whether incoming calls or mobile data work. If Wi-Fi calling is involved, state that too. Do not infer a personal block from one busy tone; technical symptoms rarely identify the other person’s intention.
