We have at our fingertips a huge number of programs that act as Internet browsers to install and use on our computers. Google’s Chrome is the most used option by far compared to its competitors, something that doesn’t seem to change any time soon.
It must be taken into account that the market penetration of this program is around 70% of the total. Starting from the fact that we have other very interesting proposals in this same sector, this percentage of use is very high. One of the main reasons for all this is that the program we are talking about is owned by the search giant, Google. This means that at the same time the browser works seamlessly with other platforms from the same company.
All this opens up a wide range of possibilities that we can take advantage of in our day to day with the computer. To all this, we can add the large number of available functions that facilitate navigation . It is true that this is a company that does not stop releasing updates for its program and thus improve both its functionality and its security. How could it be otherwise, the search engine as such is one of those elements that we can take full advantage of from Chrome.
But it is also interesting to know that both proposals, the search engine as such and the browser, have always been highly criticized for the little privacy they offer us. To a large extent most of our movements on the internet are followed by both elements.
Use other browsers in Chrome, not just Google
It may be the case that you are a regular user of Chrome, but you want to partially limit that lack of privacy that we find here. With all this, what we really or Vas want to say is that we have the possibility of discarding the default use of the Google search engine . Obviously this company tries by all means that we use its own search engine in programs such as your browser.
This means that Chrome is configured by default to use the Google search engine, which in many cases we also use as the home page. But either because of privacy-related issues, or because we simply don’t like using this proposal, it’s important to know that we can change it. All this is something that we can carry out through the configuration of the program itself , as we are going to show you now.
To achieve this, the first thing we do is access the configuration section of the Google browser. We click on the button with three vertical points located in the upper right corner and we opt for Settings . Among the different categories that we find in the panel on the left of the new window, click on Search.
Here we are going to find a drop-down list that shows all the options that we have at hand to use as the default browser in Chrome. For example, we find one of the most private proposals of this type, as is the case with DuckDuckGo .
