The reasons to choose iPhone 14 Pro over iPhone 14 Plus

A few months back, as summer rolled in, I made the switch to using the iPhone 14 Plus as my primary device. However, after a couple of months, I’ve opted to go back to the iPhone 14 Pro, and I’d like to share my reasons with you.

While the iPhone 14 Plus in its striking yellow design is undeniably attractive, it hasn’t proven compelling enough to keep me committed to this device in the long run. Throughout this period, I’ve found myself yearning for numerous features exclusive to the iPhone 14 Pro, and that’s precisely what I’d like to discuss with you today.

The screen disparity is truly striking

One of the most talked-about distinctions is the screen’s refresh rate. The Pro models boast a speedy 120 Hz refresh rate, while the iPhone 14 and 14 Plus make do with a standard 60 Hz. Despite initial skepticism about whether the difference would be noticeable, it’s glaringly apparent. The Pro model offers a significantly smoother and swifter screen experience. Once you’ve savored the iPhone 14 Pro’s screen, it’s virtually impossible not to yearn for it when using a model with a lower refresh rate.

Dynamic Island, anyone?

Now, what about the Dynamic Island? It’s an exclusive feature on the iPhone 14 Pro models. While it might initially seem like an extra, it’s akin to the screen refresh rate. Once you’ve experienced an iPhone with this functionality, you’ll find it hard to do without.

For me, the real magic happens when you combine the Dynamic Island with the always-on lock screen. I’ve missed the ability to glimpse essential information on my iPhone lock screen, such as weather updates, calendar events, or activity widgets. Additionally, being able to swiftly check notifications without needing to unlock the device is a feature I’ve grown accustomed to and missed dearly.

Cameras: Not a Make or Break Factor

Let’s shift our focus to cameras, another hotly debated topic. The Pro models boast extra camera features like a telephoto lens and increased megapixels on the primary camera. While this wasn’t the primary reason for my device switch, the differences are certainly noticeable. While the iPhone 14 Plus’s cameras are indeed excellent and sufficient for most users, those of us who appreciate the nuances may occasionally find ourselves yearning for the quality offered by the Pro models.

Size Matters: iPhone 14 Plus is Just Too Big

For me, the iPhone 14 Pro already felt substantial, even though it’s the smallest model in the iPhone 14 lineup. Hence, it’s no surprise that the iPhone 14 Plus felt unwieldy and oversized. It’s not pocket-friendly, and single-handed use is out of the question. As someone who prefers smaller iPhone models like the iPhone Mini, the size factor was one of the primary drivers behind my return to the iPhone 14 Pro.
