Google is no stranger to leaks, and the company has been affected by them on numerous occasions. This is evident in the fact that the existence of a foldable mobile phone has been known for quite some time, lending credibility to this leaked information. Recently, real images of a Pixel 8 Pro prototype have surfaced on Reddit, following the usual trend of leaks. The original account that shared these screenshots has been deleted, adding credibility to the authenticity of the images. While the overall design maintains the aesthetics of previous Pixel models, there are noticeable changes that catch the eye.

The distinguishing feature that confirms these images as the Google Pixel 8 Pro is the presence of a triple rear camera setup, unlike the standard version with only two sensors. Following the design trend established since the Pixel 6 Pro, the back of the phone features a rectangular island that spans the entire width, housing a pill-shaped module where the three cameras are positioned.

One intriguing aspect is the square-shaped sensor, indicating that Google may have equipped its new flagship with an additional lens. While it remains to be confirmed, such an upgrade would showcase the extent of the internet giant’s advancements in mobile photography.

All features revealed

The leaked images clearly indicate that the device in question is a prototype of the Google Pixel 8 Pro. Stickers on the case reveal that it is developed “for testing only.” The phone is referred to by its code name “husky” and boasts 12 GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 128 GB of internal storage. However, it’s important to note that being a prototype means there may be changes in the final version, so it’s wise not to take everything for granted. Nonetheless, the overall design is expected to remain largely unchanged.

The device is said to feature a 6.7-inch OLED display with a resolution of 1,344×2,992 pixels and a smooth 120 Hz refresh rate. The primary rear camera is rumored to be 50 MP, utilizing an ISOCELL GN2 sensor, while the ultra-wide-angle lens is expected to offer 64 MP with the Sony IMX787 sensor. The phone may also include a 5x optical zoom camera, and an 11 MP front-facing camera for selfies. Under the hood, it is anticipated to be powered by the Tensor G3 processor, and it will run on Android 14 out of the box.
