The performance of the ARC A370M, better than the RTX 3050?

When we talk about choosing a graphics card in our PC, whether we buy a computer from scratch or as an expansion. What interests us is to know its performance. Which is normally measured by comparing the frame rate in different games or through synthetic benchmarks for this task. Well, everything seems to indicate that the Intel ARC A370M and the NVIDIA RTX 3050 tie in performance.

The performance of the ARC A370M

The odyssey by Intel to be able to launch its graphics cards is proving to be the punishment of Sisyphus. Added to the already accumulated delays are the recent problems with the drivers. This has made a part of the community skeptical about what ARC Alchemist can offer. Meanwhile, the company that created the x86 has to do everything possible to maintain the expectation. The next GPU or graphics chip that they will launch will be the A370M, of which the first benchmarks have begun to appear. Everything would indicate that it would have the same performance as the most modest of the NVIDIA RTX 30, the 3050.

Which is good news, as Intel has always been seen as the least capable of the big three when it comes to graphics technology. Especially for the performance of its integrated graphics in the past. Although, everyone knows that in the last five years they have been taking it very seriously and want to leave that image behind. Especially the curse that seems to haunt them since the days of the i740 and the failed Larrabee project.

Intel ARC A370M versus NVIDIA RTX 3050

While we wait for the driver problem to be solved, several manufacturers already have their laptop models with Intel ARC. That is why the PCWorld medium has managed to get hold of one of them to check its performance today. In a situation where there is still room for improvement before the final release.

To measure performance they have used the 3D Mark Time Spy benchmark, where the A370M has obtained 4405 points compared to 4396 points of the RTX 3050 . So it can be said that the Intel GPU is on par with the NVIDIA one. Of course, with a single performance test it is not enough for us and that is why the medium has carried out a series of additional benchmarks, this time based on games. In all of them, the A370M and the RTX 3050 are at very similar levels in terms of gaming performance.

However, we have to be skeptical for the moment and it is not that we do not believe the results obtained by the American media. If not for the fact that we think there is what is called a clear case of what is called Cherry Picking in English. Which consists of choosing the performance tests that best fit a narrative. We say this because we would like to have in our hands the first laptops with Intel gaming graphics. As well as its dedicated graphics cards. We need the ARC Alchemist to be released in all its glory in order to see its performance.
