The official (and dangerous) Windows 11 trick to speed up games

The adoption of the new Windows 11 operating system is being low, something quite predictable. There are few novelties that it brings and users are not very interested in taking the leap. To encourage people to switch to Windows 11, Microsoft has released some tricks on how to improve performance in games.

The launch of Windows 11 was not liked at all, since it was said that Windows 10 would be the company’s last operating system. The reasons why you don’t like it is the short list of processors compatible with this operating system. In addition, the obligation to use TPM 2.0 has generated a lot of chaos and doubts among users and manufacturers.

Microsoft teaches you how to optimize your operating system

If you want to improve the performance of your PC for your favorite games in Windows 11, Microsoft itself gives you advice. The curious thing is that the company indicates that two security functions that generate vulnerabilities must be deactivated. But the most curious of all is that making these adjustments does not contribute absolutely anything.

Specifically, players are instructed to disable Virtual Machine Platform (VMP) and Hypervisor Protected Code Integrity (HVCI) . It is requested that these features be disabled only temporarily, while playing the game. The company warns that doing so leaves the system unprotected against possible attacks. Both features are on by default, but the company says it’s okay to turn it off in Windows 11.

HCVI is System Memory Integrity. What it does is prevent malicious code from being installed on the system when drivers are updated, verifying the signature and that they are trustworthy. VMP, meanwhile, is all about services for virtual machines.

According to Microsoft , they are aware that some users put games over work . A somewhat meaningless statement by the company, which seems like an attack on the user.

Disabling these two features should offer additional gaming performance, according to the company. But, they are also concerned about carrying out these actions.

We explain how to deactivate these two functions:

Disable memory integrity

  1. We go to the Windows search engine in the task bar and we put Core isolation , and click on this option
  2. Now we put Disabled inside the Memory Integrity option
  3. After this, we must restart the PC

Deactivate the virtual machine platform

  1. We go to the Windows search engine on the taskbar and we put Windows Features , and click on the option Activate or deactivate Windows features
  2. We look in the window that opens for the Virtual Machine Platform option and deselect it
  3. Click on OK and restart the system

What is Microsoft doing?

The truth is that it is quite amazing that Microsoft itself tells you to disable a function that makes you vulnerable. All for a performance boost that we won’t really get or even notice. But it’s not a joke, they tell you how to consciously optimize and exploit your system.

If by following these tricks for Windows 11 you suffer a security breach, go and search. Obviously, Microsoft will tell you that they warned you that it was a risk and that you acted at your own risk.

It is quite sad, to say the least, what they are doing. Windows 11 is an operating system that should never have existed and that is designed for very specific processors. A very poorly optimized system that follows the rule of a good version (Windows 10) and a bad version (Windows 11). Good thing, Windows 10 is not a marvel compared to Windows 7, but a work of art compared to Windows Vista.
