POCO , Xiaomi‘s young and successful second brand, is organizing a launch event in the next few minutes where we are going to learn about the two new smartphones that are added to the brand’s catalogue, the POCO F4, successor to the brand’s mobile that is best has sold last year, and the new POCO X4 GT.
The POCO F4 5G is the successor to the F3 of the previous generation and we have already been able to confirm what the different leaks prior to this launch detailed: that it comes with a different camera module, which will be one of the great novelties of the device along with a more powerful camera and what appears to be 67W fast charging.
For its part, the Poco X4 GT , according to what we have seen so far, seems to be a review of the Redmi Note 11T Pro that will hit stores with a MediaTek Dimensity 8100 processor, a battery of more than 5,080 mAh that would also support a fast charging of 67 W and different configurations of RAM and storage.
POCO F4, improving what is present
It is true that the mobile maintains some characteristics of the previous generation , such as the Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 processor or a screen that has the same features as the POCO F3 5G, but improvements have been added in the form of an even faster fast charge, a design revamped with a circular camera module and better sensors.
According to the brand, the good results given by the Qualcomm processor, manufactured with a 7nm process, a speed of 3.2 GHz and 5G connectivity, have been verified in last year’s model and, with the aim of not increasing the price of the phone, has been maintained without sacrificing the power of the whole. This time, as with the previous model, it is accompanied by 6 or 8 GB of RAM and 128 or 256 GB of storage. What has been improved is its LiquidCool Technology 2.0 heat dissipation technology that cools the CPU even faster.
The screen is still 6.67 inches with FullHD + resolution, AMOLED technology and a refresh rate of 120 Hz (and a sampling rate of 360 Hz) that reaches a maximum brightness of 1300 nits. No brutal change in a panel that has already shown that it is more than enough to watch movies, play mobile games or surf the Net. Here the 20 MP front camera (also the same as in the POCO F3) hides again in a Drilled hole in top of panel 2.76mm.
What stands out the most about the phone, without a doubt, is its 67 W turbo charging compatible with MMT technology to achieve shorter charging times. Thanks to it, the 4500 mAh battery of the POCO F4 can be fully recharged in just 38 minutes with the charger included in the box. To extend the useful life of this battery, the Middle Middle Tab system has been used, a charging method in which the electrical currents of the circuits are divided in two directions to improve charge stability and increase the battery’s durability.
In terms of design, the POCO F4 is presented as the slimmest model in the family with only 7.7 mm thick. It has Dolby Atmos sound in its double speaker and renews the camera module by inserting the three rear sensors in a circular module that is integrated into a rectangular package. Unlike what was seen in 2021, now the main sensor grows to 64MP, keeping the 8MP ultra wide-angle sensor and adding a 2MP macro camera. Best of all in this field is that optical image stabilization (OIS) is added to the phone, being the first in the manufacturer’s catalog to boast of it.
Of course, it works with Android 12 and MIUI 13 , and it has essential features such as GPS, NFC, WiFi 6 and Bluetooth 5.2.
POCO X4 GT, a very ‘top’ mid-range
This POCO X4 GT is one of those phones that we don’t really know how to catalog. For its price, it is a mid-range, but for what it offers, it is difficult not to include it in the high-end range.
The smartphone lands boasting a MediaTek Dimensity 8100 chip , which has been developed in a 5nm TSMC manufacturing process to provide users with best-in-class energy efficiency with low power consumption and low heat, without giving up a high-speed 2.85 GHz or 5G connectivity. In addition, it goes on sale with 8 GB of high-speed LPDDR5 RAM and 128 or 256 GB UFS 3.1 storage. As in the POCO F4, here we also find LiquidCool Technology 2.0 , with its seven graphite layers that efficiently dissipate heat from the screen, keeping the CPU heat at bay.
Another of the great novelties of the phone is to present an LCD screen ratio of 20.5:9. It is a 6.6-inch panel, FHD + resolution and, most impressively, a 144 Hz dynamic refresh rate capable of going through 7 different stages, automatically or custom. This promotes longer battery life and smoother viewing. The device also features Paper Texture, DC Dimming, and True Display mode that help protect the eye by adjusting the screen’s color temperature based on ambient light conditions.
As for the battery, the 67 W charge is repeated, compatible with the charger included in the box of the device. The difference here is that the cell is 5080 mAh (the largest ever seen in a device of the brand) making it take a little longer to fully recharge than what we have seen in the F4. It is not too much either, since it can go from zero to 100 in just 46 minutes and is capable of reaching 40% in 18 minutes. The brand details that, with a full charge, the POCO X4 GT can offer us up to 22 hours of video playback, 26 hours of reading and 120 hours of music playback. And safe charging technology also makes an appearance on the phone.
The camera is virtually identical on both devices. Here we also find a 64 MP sensor, accompanied by an 8 MP Ultra Wide Angle lens and a 2 MP Macro sensor. The front camera is also 20 P and the difference in this section is that this model does not have OIS .
The mobile is completed with MIUI 13 based on Android 12, compatible speakers are Dolby Atmos , USB Type C, Bluetooth, WiFi 6, GPS and NFC.
Price of mobiles in Spain
The more powerful of the two, the POCO F4 arrives in Spanish stores next week in the colors Moonlight Silver, Night Black, Nebula Green. Its price is 399 euros for the 6 + 128 GB version and 449 euros for the 8 + 256 GB model. As for the POCO X4 GT , it can be purchased in silver, black and blue in the 8 + 128 GB configuration, for 379 euros, and with the same RAM and 256 GB of internal memory, for 429 euros.
Both phones can be purchased in the coming weeks with different discounts:
- POCO F4: On sale June 27. You can benefit from a 50 euros discount if you buy it from July 27 to 1.
- POCO X4 GT : On sale July 4. In this case, the discount is 80 euros if you buy it from July 4 to 9.
