Xiaomi has a function in many of its mobiles that allows you to open applications easily and is very practical for large screens, you may know it or have not yet discovered it and want to know what it consists of.
This is the new smart bar, which has initially arrived in MIUI 13, but can also be used in some cases in MIUI 12.5. It is very similar to that of Samsung and allows you to have shortcuts on the drop-down side screen so that you can easily open apps and that gives your mobile greater versatility if it has a large screen.

If you have a Xiaomi, Redmi and POCO mobile, you could have the option to access this option called Sidebar through which a floating bar is displayed from any part of your screen and thus you can easily open some apps that you have selected. You will find it on the side and you can expand it when you want to see the list of apps and easily open the one you are interested in. I have it on my Redmi and I find it practical on many occasions, so I’ll tell you how you can start using it.
How to activate it
Activating this function is much easier than you imagine if it is available on your mobile and I will tell you what are the steps you say to take:
- Open the mobile settings
- Move to the Special Functions section
- Click on the Sidebar option
- Select Always show
- You can also show it only while playing a game or while playing videos
- Go down to the personalization section and add the ones you want, they will appear in the games and video apps sections, selecting them from the list
- You can see how to do the gestures from the same setting

How to quickly open apps with the sidebar
Once you have activated and customized the bar , you will find it on the side of the mobile and all you have to do is press on it to display the apps you have selected and open them immediately. You just have to click on its icon. For example, if you have added Telegram, WhatsApp, Chrome and any other app to the list, just by pressing its image it will appear on the screen in the form of a floating window. You can zoom in to work with it better, or view it as it is while you do something else.
Thus, whatever you do, you only need that gesture and give the app to open it in seconds. If you have selected that it only be seen while you play or watch videos, it will only appear in these cases, but if you have set it to always be displayed no matter what you do, you can easily go to the app from there without having to search for it in the desktop icons or anywhere else.

You decide which option is most comfortable or practical for you. The best thing is that if you don’t need to use it at any time, it will be practically hidden on the screen without anything bothering you.
Did you already know this function to open applications easily and without problems? If not, I encourage you to try it and tell me how you think!
