Spotlight is one of the new features introduced by Windows 10. This feature allows us to automatically change the background of the PC’s lock screen with very high-quality images from Microsoft itself. These funds can change once a day, or sometimes even several times a day. However, this feature only works for lock screen backgrounds, there being nothing similar (at least officially) to use on the desktop and give our PC some more dynamism. Until now.
Until now, when choosing the wallpaper that we want to see on our computer, we can choose between several options: a static background, the one we choose, a solid color, or a presentation of several images that we save within the same binder. We can also download themes for Windows from the Microsoft Store, which usually bring several different funds that rotate from time to time.
However, the number of options that Spotlight offers is far greater. Since the release of Windows 10 in 2015, a new wallpaper has been released every day. Therefore, thanks to this function, we can see every day a different background, of very high quality, and totally free.
What will Spotlight backgrounds look like on your desktop
Microsoft is apparently working to bring Spotlight to the Windows 10 desktop . This new feature is still in a very experimental phase of development, and is only being tested internally; not even Insider users have been able to test it.
Little is known about this novelty, except that Microsoft has decided to call it ” Desktop Spotlight “, and that it will use Bing funds to change the background of our desktop every day. Activating it will be easier and faster than, as some users already do, creating their own photo galleries on the PC.
This new function will be activated from the Windows background change section, so we will not have to do anything out of the ordinary for it.
At the moment, this feature is only available in Microsoft internal use builds, so we won’t be able to test it for now. However, if all goes well, Insider users should be able to test this novelty before the end of the year. And so, it would reach everyone in the face of 21H1, the first major update of Windows 10.
How to use Microsoft wallpapers on your desktop now
If we don’t want to wait for Microsoft to bring this feature to all users, we can resort to other simple tricks that will allow us to do so. For example, we can search the net for a collection of Windows Spotlight backgrounds , download them, and use “slideshow” mode to use them as wallpapers.
Or, if we don’t want to complicate things, we can also use the “Spotlight for Windows Desktop” program, a simple, totally free software that will allow us to download a random photo from Spotlight every so often and place it as a wallpaper. So we can have a dynamic fund thanks to the precious funds of Microsoft.
We can also use the official Microsoft software, Bing Wallpaper , which will allow us to change the wallpaper of our Windows 10 for a Bing background every day. Of course, we must be careful, since this program will also try to change the default search engine of the PC.
