Among all the bugs detected in MIUI 12, there is one that is driving Xiaomi users crazy. In several company forums we can find how the company’s customers complain that, after updating their mobiles, the sound of the device has been drastically reduced, preventing them from enjoying the phone at a good volume.
MIUI 12 brings a ton of new changes with improved security and visual enhancements, but at the same time it also has an overwhelming number of issues typical of early versions of an operating system. The last ones that we have to add to the list are the failures with the audio of mobile phones from Xiaomi that, after being updated, cannot enjoy the same volume that they previously enjoyed in MIUI 11.
We already know that there are several devices of the brand that are not going to enjoy all the news of the software such as certain camera functions or the floating window in multitasking, but that there are differences in sound between devices was not “planned”.
The Xiaomi forum has been bombarded with complaints related to the reduction in speaker volume levels. Several users have complained that after installing the latest version of the operating system the loudspeaker volume intensity has decreased compared to how the phone was listening before updating to MIUI 12 .
A “nonexistent” MIUI 12 problem?
The company claims that they haven’t touched any of the sound on MIUI 12. The firm has responded to these criticisms on its forum, stating that the audio tuning settings have not been changed since April. However, Xiaomi has started an investigation to solve the problem. The brand indicates having contacted those affected to compare the volume of the affected models, discovering that the sound levels are the same.
The company measured the level of each block to determine what l volume as two versions of firmware were basically identical at the highest levels. The frequency response of the speaker at levels 12, 8, and 5 was also measured and, as a result, the response curves of the two versions were determined to be the same.
However, this has not silenced complaints from users who also allege sound problems in MIUI 12 when connecting headphones.
Low volume does not affect the speaker. It happens only when I connect the earphone. Even when setting the effect, it only improves the bass sound, not the volume.
Fix the audio of your Xiaomi mobile
In the absence of determining if the low volume on MIUI 12 is a personal perception or something real, you can always fix the sound problems on Xiaomi from the additional settings of the phone, cleaning the speakers or performing a hard reset on the device.
