Sometimes we come across phenomena more typical of science fiction than with an explanation, something that is happening on different Android phones . We ourselves have had to suffer it, although luckily we have been able to solve it before it got bigger. This is a bug that stops the backup of Google Photos in the Android operating system.
Something that reminds us a lot of the moment when the mobile backup does not advance. In this case, the error only affects the app where all the photos taken with the mobile are stored, while all the other copies continue to work without problems. By not generating the backup, there could come a time when we lose the images and videos that we made with the mobile, as they are not protected in the cloud.
How do we know if it affects us?
Find out if we are one of those affected, it is very simple. We just have to access Google Photos on our smartphone and put the crosshairs in the upper right. In case we see the classic circle going around and the upload arrow, we will have to click on our profile picture, as we indicate in the following image. This will open an information panel, where we will check how many photos are missing to be saved in the security space.
The circle that is apparently storing our images in the cloud will not stop turning, we can spend hours looking at it and the backup is not completed on Android . This is what is affecting many users, in some cases, as happened to us before, with more than 200 images pending to be protected.

In our case, we tried an alternative method and it also worked, so we are going to show you the ones that have given the best results. To start, a very simple one that consists of the following:
- We enter the mobile Settings.
- Then click on Applications.
- We turn to Google Photos.
- We touch on Permissions.
- We select Files and multimedia content.
- For later, Don’t allow.
Now we just have to close the multitasking with all the applications and we will repeat the process again, but this time to return the permissions. In addition, we restart the mobile to finish solving it. When turning on and entering Google Photos we will see how now the copy is working.
Other users have blamed WhatsApp folders for this situation. In this case, the solution is more dangerous and we should only follow it if we know what we are doing or we could lose elements.
- We access the file explorer.
- We look for the Android folder.
- We select WhatsApp.
- And finally Media.
- There we will find a folder that has no files and that we only have to delete.
