Save or Remove Facebook Login Information: App and Browser Settings

Facebook can save login information on a device to make signing in easier. You can remove that saved entry through the controls available in Accounts Center or on the login screen. Your browser’s saved password and your current signed-in session have separate settings.

How to save Facebook login information

  1. Sign in through the official Facebook app or facebook.com.
  2. If Facebook offers to save your login information, accept only on a device you control.
  3. For account settings, open Settings & privacy → Settings → Accounts Center → Password and security.
  4. Look for Saved login or Save login info, if your account offers that control, and follow its prompts.

Meta’s faster-login help explains saved details. Menu wording and availability can differ between accounts and devices. Saving information may reduce typing, but security checks or two-factor authentication can still ask you to confirm a login.

How to remove saved login information

  1. Open the same Accounts Center → Password and security section.
  2. Select the saved-login control when available.
  3. Choose the saved entry you want to remove and confirm.
  4. Log out and check the login screen. If the account tile is still there, use its remove or X control where offered.

See Meta’s removal instructions. Remove the saved entry for the device you are changing. Deleting the Facebook account is a separate action and is unnecessary for this task.

Why does the password still fill itself in?

It may be stored by Chrome, Edge, Safari or your phone’s password manager. Search that password manager for Facebook and remove the relevant saved password if that is what you want. Keep another way to sign in before deleting your only stored copy.

Likewise, closing a tab does not necessarily log you out. Log out explicitly when you want to end the session, especially on a shared computer.

Facebook will not remember my login: what should I check?

  • Private browsing: an InPrivate or incognito window usually removes its temporary site data when it closes.
  • Cookie settings: blocking or deleting Facebook’s cookies may stop the site remembering the session.
  • Cleanup tools: browser or security settings may clear site data on exit.
  • Account or device changes: confirm that you are using the same account, app and browser profile.
  • Security checks: a fresh sign-in request can be a normal account-protection step.

Check the relevant setting rather than disabling all browser protections. On a shared device, leave login saving off and remove the saved account entry after use.
