It is worth mentioning that this Efficiency Mode is available as a customizable option in the Edge settings that we can use at any time. It is true that the idea is not new, since it is based on putting to rest the tabs that have not been used for a certain time. With this, what is really achieved is to free up memory, reduce the use of the CPU, and therefore save energy on the laptop.

Next, we will only have to locate the section called Optimized Performance. In the same way we can go to the program menu and access Settings / System / Optimized Performance .

Once we have located the function as such, it is worth mentioning that by default we find it deactivated. Specifically, in the configuration drop-down list of this we will see the Never mode in operation. Actually, this means that initially it will not be put into operation at any time, something that we can obviously change.
At this point we must take into consideration that this Efficiency Mode can be set as Always activated . We can also specify the program to start when the laptop enters battery saving mode. Perhaps this is the most appropriate configuration in most cases. This way Efficiency Mode will kick in if the device activates battery saving mode in Windows.
At the same time, a blue icon will be seen in the Edge toolbar that confirms it. Thus, as we mentioned before, the application will automatically put the tabs that have been inactive for 5 minutes to sleep. In this way, it is possible to free up system resources while saving energy and therefore improving autonomy. Obviously, other factors come into play here, such as the specifications of the equipment, the number of open tabs, the programs running, etc.
From all this we can deduce that this new feature that we have in the browser greatly helps to increase battery life . It also minimizes energy use due to less resource use.
