The Korean company has made its new Unpacked, or what is the same, its second great presentation of the year, after that of the Galaxy S20 at the beginning of the year. In this way, we have met the new Galaxy Note 20 and Note Ultra. However, Samsung has also had time to unveil the new Galaxy Z Fold2, the evolution of its first folding phone .
The race that manufacturers such as Samsung or Huawei maintain, leads them to want to launch the best and, if possible, before their rival. For this reason, last year we saw the first great battle of folding mobiles, a concept that for many years was the great promise of the industry, but which never quite materialized. Finally, in 2019, we could see how Samsung presented the Galaxy Fold and Huawei did the same with the Mate X.
Different concepts
It was also curious to observe, how both manufacturers conceived the end result of a folding panel differently. Samsung worked the raw material as a device that folds inward to hide its larger screen and give the user the ability to interact with a smaller 4.6-inch panel. Huawei’s concept was that of a foldable with folded out that transforms into two screens
Galaxy Z Fold2: premium design with bigger screens
Obviously, both manufacturers made the classic mistakes of the beginnings and inexperience, which meant delays in the official launch of both terminals. But now, with the perspective of the passage of time, Samsung has released the new Galaxy Z Fold2 , which is the third folding of the company after the Galaxy Z Flip , and which according to the Korean firm, has been developed listening to the comments of users about the most requested updates and new features.
The best of a mobile and a tablet
The concept of the device has been further detailed by Samsung, presenting itself as a folding that combines the handling and flexibility of a smartphone, with the power and size of a tablet as well as having maximum productivity. All this added to a Premium design due to manufacturing with quality materials. Part of this improvement comes from a new hinge called “Hideway ” designed by Samsung and that improves performance and smooths openings and closings compared to the previous model.
Two bigger screens
The Galaxy Z Fold2 can be used open or closed since it has two end-to-end Infinity-O screens, with very small frames. The cover screen reaches 6.2 inches, while the main screen reaches 7.6 inches. This means that the two panels are larger than those of the first Fold, especially in the folded screen, which in the first model was a mere 4.6 inches.
Triple rear camera
Samsung has been responsible for respecting the rear camera triple of the first Fold. However, the Korean company has not yet officially revealed the capacity of each sensor , also including the front sensor housed in the hole of the main screen.
Price and date of sale
At the moment, Samsung has not released the price of the device, but it has detailed that the pre-sale will begin on September 1. We also know that it will arrive in Mystic Black and Mystic Bronze colors . In addition, the company has confirmed a special edition, made with the iconic New York fashion brand Thom Browne, to offer a limited edition of the Galaxy Z Fold2 Thom Browne, as was the case with the Galaxy Z Flip.
