Samsung Galaxy A50 Fingerprint Errors on the Screen: How to Fix it

Although not so long ago, having a mobile phone with a fingerprint unlock on the screen was something reserved for the high-end, it is something that we already found in more modest terminals. The Samsung Galaxy A50 has been one of the first mid-range mobiles to offer this attribute, although like any self-respecting mobile, it is not without problems. Today we wanted to see why the Samsung Galaxy A50 screen fingerprint sensor fails and how to fix it.

Even the most expensive and powerful terminals on the market have had problems with screen fingerprint sensors. Integrating this biometric reading technology under a touch panel has not been easy, although little by little they are becoming much faster and cheaper. Many users report problems with the accuracy and reading of the Galaxy A50’s screen fingerprint sensor, although their solution is usually at hand.

How to fix the problem

Check for updates

The Samsung Galaxy A50 has received plenty of updates since it was released last year. We have seen how many of these updates were intended to improve both the touch screen and the fingerprint sensor on the screen. Therefore, our first step is to check if we have any of these pending updates . To check it we go to Settings / System / System Updates. If everything goes well, after the update the sensor will be faster and will respond better to our footprint in the unlock.

Touch sensitivity

Another solution that is working well is to increase tactile sensitivity. The Galaxy A series, including the Galaxy A50, come standard with a protective plastic for the screen that can sometimes interfere with the normal operation of the touch screen and therefore the fingerprint sensor.

To avoid the problem, we can activate an option that will increase the touch sensitivity of the screen, which in many cases makes the problem disappear . For this we go to the Settings menu and enter Advanced Functions. Once inside we will only have to activate the switch called “Touch sensitivity”.

Guilty protector

Some third-party screen protectors feature semi-conductive materials that cause read errors on the screen fingerprint sensor. Many users solve it by removing and replacing the protector, but in other cases it is necessary to purchase an official one to avoid the problem . This causes the sensor to be unable to correctly read the fingerprint data. Therefore, we must remove the screen saver, to check if the problem disappears, then we will have located the culprit of the problem.

Check the sensor (and your fingers)

The on-screen fingerprint scanner may have trouble recognizing fingers if they are too wet or too dry, for example, in very cold weather conditions. The fingerprint recognition sensor area at the bottom center of the screen, and your fingers, should be clean and dry. Then we must press the screen so that the fingertip extends over the entire surface of the fingerprint recognition area. Additionally, we will have to check that the area of the fingerprint sensor is not scratched or damaged by metal objects such as coins, keys …

Re-register

In many cases, the problem is due to poor initial fingerprint settings. This undoubtedly causes reading errors, lack of precision and therefore unnecessary slowness when unlocking our mobile. The solution is to go to Settings / Security / Fingerprint . Now we will have to register our fingerprint again and try again. In a large part of the cases it is the most suitable solution.
