QuTScloud Adds New Cloud Services to Have a NAS Server

QNAP launched the QuTSCloud operating system a long time ago, an operating system based on the popular QuTS but which is specifically geared towards Cloud environments and for operating system virtualization. Thanks to this operating system, we can have all the services and applications of a NAS from the manufacturer QNAP, but installed on any dedicated server, VPS server and even on the Microsoft Azure Cloud, Amazon and many others. Now QNAP has announced direct support for more widely used cloud services, do you want to know what they are?

What is QuTSCloud and what can it do for us?

This operating system from the manufacturer QNAP is prepared to be installed on local hypervisors such as VMware, Virtual Box and even Microsoft’s Hyper-V, with the aim of creating a complete virtual NAS server with the main services such as Samba server, FTP, VPN, RADIUS server and all the backup apps we have in the official app store. In addition to being able to configure virtual hard disks, users will now be able to pass physical disks directly to the operating system, as if it were a JBOD, with the goal of greatly improving performance by removing a layer of abstraction in the file system. This is ideal for environments where we have applications that read and write a lot of information on disks.

QuTScloud Adds New Cloud Services

QuTSCloud will allow us to have a NAS in the cloud with all the typical services of the manufacturer, without the need to install a system such as Debian or Ubuntu Server where we have to configure all the servers one by one, editing complicated configuration files to start it up. Thanks to this operating system for Cloud and virtualized environments, we will have everything by default, without having to buy the hardware from QNAP. For example, some of its very popular applications used in professional environments such as HBS3 for backup copies, HybridMount and even VJBOD Cloud will also be available, and we will have the possibility to install most of the applications that we have in the store. QNAP to improve productivity.

Some of the Cloud services where we can install QuTSCloud easily and quickly are the following:

  • Microsoft Azure
  • Google cloud
  • Amazon EC2
  • Alibaba Cloud

Support for OVHcloud, JustVPS and IONOS cloud services has now also been added. This will allow us to install this operating system in a really easy way, without the need to perform a manual installation, in addition, the compatibility of the hardware has been ensured so that we do not have any surprises when installing it in our instance in the cloud.

Unlike a QNAP NAS server where we buy the hardware, QuTSCloud has a paid subscription, depending on the number of “Cores” of the processor that we want to use to maximize performance, we will have to pay more or less, the minimum of 1 core is worth $ 90 per year. The number of “Cores” to use will depend on the needs of the company, and the number of clients simultaneously connected to the NAS server itself. Our recommendation is to use 2 or 4 cores to start, and if necessary, increase the number of cores.

We recommend you visit the official QuTSCloud website where you will find all the details of this interesting QNAP solution, including all the monthly and annual prices.
