How to Program Spotify to Sleep at Night

Spotify is together with Apple Music, the quintessential platform most used to listen to music in streaming , with more millions of users spread all over the planet. In the case of Spotify, there are many functions within the Android app, such as programming it so that at a certain time, the music stops playing.

In recent years, competitors have appeared to take the big piece of the cake, such as YouTube or Amazon Music, but the truth is that Spotify continues to dominate the download lists on Google Play. It is the leader for, among other things, the design of the playlists, the interface of the app or for its multiplatform service.

In addition, it has many configuration options to adapt the app to our liking. Many people believe that these options are only enjoyed if they have the premium version, but it is not. The problem is that we don’t take a close look at everything the interface offers, missing out on things that can be really useful in the long run.

It is also true that some of them have not always been included, since they have been implemented as the application has been updated. This time, and as we have already advanced in the introduction, we are going to show how Spotify can be programmed so that the music stops when we want.

We can find it useful at many times of the day, but the most appropriate is when we go to sleep at night. Who has not resorted to music to fall asleep on sleepless nights, or simply for the pleasure of listening to relaxing music.

How to activate it

We have the premium version or the free version, every user of the platform has this option available, in which we can program the moment in which we no longer want the app to continue working, and it has two timer options, being by time limit or per finished song.

Once ready to sleep, we open the Spotify app, go to any song and play it. If the song menu is not displayed on the entire screen, press at the bottom to do so, otherwise we will not be able to activate the timer. While the song is playing, we go to the three-dot icon and in the drop-down menu, the “Timer” option will appear, in which we can choose between the time limit or when the song ends, as we have previously said.

If we choose to continue playing music for a limited time, we must let Spotify know the songs that must continue to be selected . To do this, we can add songs to a play queue, or tell the app to play similar songs randomly. And to achieve that, in the settings section, we will activate an option called “Autoplay”, which will be in charge of searching for music of the same genre.
