News and Interests was to be one of the many new features in Windows 10 Sun Valley. This was going to be a new widget panel from which to view a news feed, with time cards, stocks and sports, to be able to always be up to date with the news from the operating system. However, for better or for worse, Microsoft decided to release it early and bring it to all versions of Windows, from 2004 onwards. Unfortunately, this new Windows plugin has arrived full of bugs and problems.
Microsoft’s news feed has been reaching users bit by bit, in waves, since last April. With this, Microsoft wanted to detect and fix problems in this element before, by launching it in a massive way, it could endanger all Windows users. Unfortunately, it seems that those responsible for checking that everything is going well have not done their job well, and, when the KB5001391 patch has enabled this element to all users, that is when the problems have appeared.

Bugs and other issues in Windows 10 News and Interests
After installing the latest Windows patches, and restarting the PC, many users have found this new feature enabled in the operating system. However, an important number of users have seen that, in addition, the icon and the text of News and Interests , and that of many other elements of this taskbar, appear blurred after installing the patch.

In addition, this is not the only problem that we can find. Within the News and Interests functions themselves, these do not work correctly . For example, we can configure our likes to see more or less news related to interests, but the news feed will continue to recommend whatever it wants. Some very basic functions are also missing, such as, for example, viewing the list of blocked sources or interests and being able to revert the changes.
Microsoft’s idea of creating its own Google Discover is not badly thought out. But unfortunately, it couldn’t have been implemented more incorrectly.
Temporary fix (with another new bug)
Microsoft has finally admitted the problems with this item and promises to be working on a fix. However, we may not see it until the next cumulative patches for the operating system. And that’s a long wait.
If we are experiencing problems with the taskbar , or we just don’t use this new feature, we can hide it to disable it. It will be enough to click with the right button on the task bar, choose the option “News and Interests”, and then we will select the option to Disconnect “.

The plugin will disappear from the taskbar, and everything should be working normally again. When Microsoft finishes debugging this function, we can reactivate it in the same way that we have just seen, but choosing the first option.
Of course, if we deactivate it, we run the risk of experiencing a new error: a problem with the Windows 10 taskbar that can cause glitches and overlap elements.
