POCO phones, better with MIUI 13 or a mod of its own?

Xiaomi has undoubtedly been one of the main architects of the smartphone market that we currently have. Its strategy of having several brands for different levels of ranges is something that has penetrated its competition. One of its prominent brands is POCO, which is at a crossroads, that of continuing to use MIUI 13 when it launches or a mod of its own.

The Chinese firm Xiaomi has been concerned over the years to differentiate its mobiles very well from the Redmi or the POCO , and it is something that we have seen above all in the prices and of course in the branding, but not in the software, which potentially is the same.

There are reasons for this and the opposite, and users who prefer both possibilities on their mobiles. But what is certain is that nowadays the brand’s mobiles have a personalized MIUI with a POCO’s own Launcher. Already this year news and the intention of POCO executives were known about a possible spin-off of the brand’s software with respect to MIUI , which for some is great news, for others not so much.

As you know, in recent months Xiaomi’s software mod is having so many problems that the brand has decided to postpone almost indefinitely the launch of the next version, which could soon arrive with the Xiaomi 12 at the end of December. While no more details have been known about these changes in the software of the Chinese brand.

Is your own mod better for POCO?

Logically, whoever buys a mobile wants it to work smoothly and have an interface that is pleasing to the eye. But of course the more personal is always better, especially if this results in a faster and easier-to-use operating system. Well, to the question of whether a POCO mobile with MIUI 13 or a mod of its own will be better, there is no certain answer, simply because a mod of its own does not guarantee anything better than sharing it with Xiaomi.

Despite the problems, MIUI is one of the best mods on the market, it is present in the three mobile brands of the group, and it does not make sense that a POCO mobile opts for an alternative to it that is not going to contribute much more than the current Launcher, which mainly brings visual changes and not performance. Also today manufacturers are tending to unify mods of customization instead of the opposite, as we have seen in the case of Oppo with OnePlus or Realme. And that is what Xiaomi should tend towards, which in that case has been less aggressive than Oppo, and has not differentiated the mods so much between the different brands.

MIUI 12.5 Pocophone M3 We do not believe that a POCO mobile is going to be better with its own layer, probably the resources that are used to it are not invested in offering better and more equipped mobiles. The important thing about these mobiles is their excellent performance-price ratio, and to get it it is not the most convenient to spend your own resources on something that will not be better than what you already have. So from our humble opinion, the best thing is that MIUI 13 arrives and continues to do so with that Launcher that gives a personal touch to phones. In fact, it is most likely to continue to happen in the coming years.
