Photography on mobile phones of the future will change radically when it comes to using the camera to take photos from afar. LG has just announced, among other things, the presentation of a new module with an optical telephoto sensor that could debut next year. Below we leave you more details about this project of the South Korean brand.
There is no doubt that smartphone lenses have evolved considerably in recent years. To such an extent, that they have an image quality that has little to envy to conventional cameras considering that the former are much more accessible and faster. Now, the next step in this domain is through a new type of telephoto lens.

A camera capable of everything
Nowadays, it is common to find devices that boast various types of sensors under their configuration. The most classic is the one that is made up of a main camera, an ultra-wide angle, a macro and a depth sensor. However, within the high range of devices we find, in most cases, with a telephoto lens.
These are used to take photos from a distance of an element or subject without losing detail with the multiple magnifications of the lens. The new optical telephoto camera that LG is preparing will have a built-in telescopic function that will be able to capture the high magnification of 4x to 9x zoom . Likewise, the Asian company ensures that this sensor will be able to capture this kind of images without any loss of quality. In fact, according to the official notes, the conventional fixed zoom module that currently exists in the sector only offers optical magnification in specific sections.

Any other increase made on the photograph is done through what we know as digital zoom. However, from LG they affirm that what they have developed is a zoom actuator, that is, a component to move the lens and allow a displacement of the focal length. This would give the user the pleasure of taking sharp photos between all magnification sections between 4x and 9x without being limited to those levels. In addition, this innovative camera technology will have support for optical image stabilization so that the capture remains steady at all times.
Thanks to this feature, mobile phones with this camera will have the ability to reduce blur in images and achieve more stable recordings. This without forgetting that, as it is a small-sized module, the manufacturers that use it will enjoy more space inside the body of the devices, since the sensor is extremely small.
What mobiles will have it
As we have already mentioned at the beginning of the previous section, the module of most smartphones is made up of up to 4 cameras: main, ultra-wide angle, macro and depth. On the other hand, telephoto lenses only have a presence within the high-end range of terminals , so this new invention by LG has a fairly specific audience.

However, it is not clear when this technology will begin to be used or if such a case will ever occur. It all depends on the manufacturers, who make the decision when building their phones and choose the components to carry it out. There is a possibility that it will not see the light, although we trust that it will happen at some point.
