Now, for those users who want this function but do not want or can become root users, a GCam mod has just been born that allows you to switch between the different camera lenses. It is a mod of the Google camera created by Urnyx05 and published in the XDA developer forums. This application can be installed on all OnePlus 8 and allows switching between lenses.
Modify settings
However, it has been possible to switch between the main lens, the wide angle and the telephoto lens, but the macro camera is still locked. In order to test this function we will only have to download the application from this link . Then you will have to accept the access permissions to the different camera lenses. Finally, we will have to enter the settings of the app, since by default, only the main lens will be used. For this we will have to enter Settings / Advanced / Auxiliary camera / and inside we will have to change the options “telephoto” and “wide angle” to on.

The creator of the software has detailed the full compatibility with the OnePlus 8. However, it also seems to be working on other devices of the company, although the result is not the same for all users:

- OnePlus 6 / 6T : Telephoto can be selected, but it is not actually a telephoto camera, it is a lower quality camera than the main camera, and it offers a better result in low light and can be used to detect depth.
