One of the serious problems of technology today is still that of passwords, since on more than one occasion we have had to reset the password of an app or web page because we did not remember it. Although Google has tried to make it easier, it is not until now, when with the integration of a new function with unlocking by fingerprint or face , it makes it very easy for us.
The greatest help to date was through a system that suggested a secure password when registering with the mobile in an application, that is, creating a new account. Automatically, it saved it, so that next time we don’t have to remember it. The problem was that this forced us to follow some previous steps and have that same Google account everywhere.

The key you need is your mobile and your finger
Today Google has settled a problem with a technology that has been working on for a long time. However, this security system is not unique to Android smartphones , as it has worked side by side with Apple and Microsoft companies to make it possible. This means that integration starts here, although it can go a long way. With this statement, it has opened the doors to collaboration in this improved security measure , so that developers can begin to integrate it into their apps and web pages.

For now, its operation is guaranteed in Google applications and passwords, as long as we use Google Chrome, but the intention is to expand little by little. For now it is not available in Spain, although with the gradual update of all systems, very soon we should have the possibility of accessing a service by placing our finger on the fingerprint reader or using other identification methods on the smartphone.
It will not matter if the smartphone has a fingerprint sensor on the screen, side or facial unlocking, in all cases it will only be necessary to have the Google account on the smartphone and proceed to identification. In other words, it is a measure copied from the manufacturers, which allow us to lock applications by password so that no one can access them without permission.
Passkey: secure unlock from mobile
Although the most widespread method is fingerprint unlocking, this new technology allows us to link our passkey to any option, such as Face ID on iPhones. Its operation is as simple as we can imagine, enter the app, tap on login and then place the fingerprint or show the face so that the system identifies our username and password . In this way, we do not have to remember a series of numbers and letters, it makes it easy for us.

You may be wondering, what happens if I want to log in to the computer? I don’t have a fingerprint reader there. In that case there is another measure that has also been thought of, a technology based on QR codes . We point the mobile at the PC screen and these are associated, in order to use the mobile passkey elsewhere . Although broadly speaking it may seem simple, many situations have had to be assessed.
Another important aspect is the relationship between applications and websites, with which Google and the collaborating companies have sought to associate all accounts by domains. Fateful cases have also been valued, such as losing our smartphone. The passkeys will be stored in the cloud together with our Google account and if we lose the phone, they can be removed from that smartphone, to be used only on the new one.
As we test this service, we will see how it is a giant step in our comfort. With regard to the iPhone, for now there is no official communication, but it should not take long for a series of very similar tools to appear and with the same purpose.
