Except for a major surprise, the next Apple watches will be presented in September together with the expected iPhone of 2021. And although it is true that until then we will not know official information of any kind, several analysts have been publishing information about them in these months. The last has been Mark Gurman at Bloomberg , who in the last hours predicts the news of the Apple Watch Series 7, going very well on the data with which they had already been known.
Main changes that the Series 7 will bring
According to the report by Gurman and others that we have seen, this will not be a generation with great changes. However, it will have small news that will be more or less appreciable, highlighting the following points as the main ones:
- Possible design change: although Gurman has not talked about it in his report, other analysts are betting on an aesthetic line in line with all the devices that Apple is launching in recent months, with straight edges and curved corners.
- Changes to the screen: LTPO technology will continue to be present in the Series 7, but according to Gurman it will have a new laminate that will allow the screen to get closer to the edges and reduce the slight bezels that we already have. This could be in accordance with the change of the sides mentioned previously.
- Thicker: Although the Bloomberg analyst states that it would be imperceptible, he continues to affirm that the Series 7 will be a thicker watch than it has been in previous generations.
- Faster processor: no leaks are necessary to confirm this, as it is common, but it never hurts to remember that the microprocessor of this next watch will be even faster than the previous one.
Gurman also confirms improvements in connectivity , although the highlight of his report is precisely what he does not comment on. It seems that there will be an absence of novelties in sensors related to health. According to the report, the temperature meter will arrive as early as 2022, while the glucose meter could be somewhat delayed as it is a very complex technology despite the advances that have already been made. We recall that despite not being a medical instrument, Apple needs the approval of medical authorities for the incorporation of functions of this type. Therefore it would be a generation with so few changes that it would remind us in a way of the few differences between the Watch Series 5 and Series 6, although in these there were more than those expected now.
There will be Watch SE 2, but not this year
Last year the Cupertino company surprised with the first “Special Edition” of its smartwatch. The current Apple Watch SE incorporates the same processor of the Series 5 and although in terms of sensors it is trimmed, it has many of the functions that the Series 6 already incorporated. The fact that it was also a much cheaper version made the brand’s watches much more accessible.
According to Gurman, this year we would not see renewal of this. This would be logical if we really want to understand what a “special version” of watches is. He says that it will be already in 2022 when we see its renewal, although it has not provided too much data about its novelties. Therefore it is still too early to speculate, but surely it will once again be a super sales as it is happening with the first generation.
