Movistar's 4K deco is updated with a long-awaited improvement

When problems appear, you have to solve them. And that is exactly what Movistar has done with the UHD deco. In recent weeks, customers have been reporting different failures that greatly affected the image and sound of the content that came through the operator’s 4K decoder.

In addition, it must be taken into account that the different errors that were being registered were only with this specific model. But, luckily for its customers, Movistar’s 4K deco has been updated to solve all these problems. And more if we take into account that the World Cup in Qatar 2022 is just around the corner.

HDR problems on 4K deco

Movistar+ finally, since yesterday, has already been updating its UHD decos to solve the different image and sound problems that had been reported. But, one of the improvements that many of its users expected in the absence of a few days before the start of the World Cup, was related to HDR . More than anything, because before this new update it didn’t work correctly.

As of this new firmware version, Movistar’s 4K deco will only turn on HDR when the content is HDR and is able to distinguish between HDR10 and HLG without problems . In addition, there are several users in their official forum who report the great improvement from this update, since they have noticed an important change with the automatic HDR option .

News in the UHD deco

One of the first points achieved by this new update that has begun to reach Movistar customers’ 4K set-top boxes is the fact of adding three options that will appear from now on in the device’s HDR configuration menu . In order for you to know if your decoder has really been updated, you will have to access this menu that we have mentioned and check that these three options appear: activated, automatic and off. If so, it will mean that it has been updated.

Previously, the Movistar deco only offered two of the three options that we found from this change with the update that the operator has launched. For this reason, the different users who have already been able to try this new feature comment on the real change that exists. Basically, because it gets the content to be viewed in HD quality, making it automatically activate the playback of content with HDR .

However, there are still sound issues . As this user reports in his official forum, “if you have the decoder connected to a 5.1 amplifier, now ALL the channels are detected with 5.1 when they are broadcast in 2.0, so it can be heard badly. Since only the contents of the Movistar film and series channels and said linear channels broadcast in 5.1”. So here, the only solution until this bug is corrected will be to activate or deactivate the digital or stereo audio option in the Dolby audio world of the 4K decoder.
