Storage space is key in our mobiles, since it depends on it on many occasions to enjoy good performance and not run short of memory for the apps and content we generate. What happens many times is that we do not worry the least about this aspect, so the ideal is that our Motorola mobile automatically free up space.
Mobile phones, also Motorola increasingly have more internal storage. While 64GB has almost become a standard, more and more cheap phones are incorporating up to 128GB, aware that less is no longer enough in many cases.

But there is a function in Motorola phones that allows us to free up storage space on the phone quickly and easily, and best of all, automatically. It is thanks to a native function that the phone has , and that we can use in the following way.
How to configure automatic storage release
This is a function integrated in the storage settings of Motorola mobiles , therefore we must access it like this:
- Enter the settings of your Motorola
- Click on “Storage”
- Select “Storage Manager”
- Click on the slider to activate “Use the Storage Manager”
Now we see that a function is also activated below this, and allows us to choose how often the photos and videos on the phone that already have a backup copy in the Google Photos cloud will be automatically deleted , which as you know is the one used by default in the brand’s mobiles. By pressing we can choose between three options:
- Delete photos older than 30 days
- Delete photos older than 60 days
- Delete photos over 90 days old
In this way once that period passes, every time a complete cycle of these days passes, all those photos and videos with backup will be deleted automatically. This means that the storage space of the phone that they occupied will be freed, and that we will be able to access the contents in the cloud. Of course, we must bear in mind that if we do not have the unlimited backup activated with the original quality of the photos and videos, these will be saved with less resolution and quality. So it is not over from time to time to make a backup of that data for example on our mobile.
