The renewed iPad Pro from 2021 was presented a week ago and although it will not be possible to reserve until Friday or start receiving it until mid-May, we can already know what its main novelties are. The most striking changes of the iPad Pro of 2021
There are many aspects that have not changed compared to previous generations and that is that this iPad Pro comes back in two sizes: 11 and 12.9 inches. They are also compatible with accessories such as the Apple Pencil 2 or the Magic Keyboard. And, as we said at the beginning, they can be booked from this Friday, April 30 from 2:00 p.m. (Spanish time).
The large model has risen 100 euros in price
$ 1,099 was what the previous-generation 12.9-inch iPad Pro cost at its base capacity of 128GB. Now this has increased to cost 1,199 euros at least. This price increases as the capacity of internal memory and RAM expands. In the small 11-inch model, the starting price of 879 euros is maintained.
Same Mac chip and 2 TB of storage
The already mythical Apple slogan in which it was said that the iPad is a computer is gaining more and more strength and that is that in terms of components there is no longer any difference, since this year’s ‘Pro’ come equipped with an M1 chip identical to that of the Mac. This has meant more RAM of 8 GB and 16 GB depending on the storage capacity, where precisely there have also been developments, even reaching 2 TB.
New miniLED panel, although not for the 11 ″
While the screen of the small iPad Pro is still excellent and maintains the 120 Hz refresh rate, the truth is that the technology of the large model is even better. Its miniLED panel that Apple has called “XDR Display” has a much more advanced technology that translates into a considerable improvement at the visual level.
Still with USB-C, but now it’s Thunderbolt too
Both iPad Pro from 2021 expand their horizons thanks to the fact that the port they incorporate is compatible with the Thunderbolt standard. This, among other things, is an excellent first step towards being able to use the device on a secondary monitor in a more optimal way both visually and functionally, although it remains to be seen whether we will have to wait for iPadOS 15 to take better advantage of it.
The new front camera is a blast
The COVID-19 pandemic has multiplied the number of video calls we make and Apple has wanted to demonstrate it with a greater angle of view in the FaceTime camera of these iPads. Although perhaps the most striking thing here is that tracking technology like those incorporated in some professional cameras has been added, so that if you move the camera it will be able to follow you to keep you in the center.
Bad news with the 12.9 Magic Keyboard
Although it is not said on the Apple website, it has already been known that Apple’s spectacular keyboard with trackpad will not be compatible between generations of 12.9-inch iPad Pro. This is due to the fact that this year’s new model has increased its thickness, making neither its keyboard compatible with previous generations nor that of previous ones with this one.
