Last year we welcomed the new Xiaomi Mi Band 5 with open arms although, on paper, there were no major and outstanding changes compared to the Mi Band 4, especially if we stick to the “capped” model that landed in our country months ago .
Both bracelets are water resistant up to 50 meters and can identify various swimming exercises among another twenty sports activities, they are capable of tracking sleep patterns, have 24-hour heart rate monitoring and the possibility of replicating mobile notifications on our wrist.
The great novelties of the Mi Band 5 went through a new charging system, PAI measurement, measurement of the stress level and the woman’s menstrual cycle, the remote control of the shutter to take photos through the phone and, incomprehensibly, a worse drums.

For this reason, we hope that Xiaomi takes good note of what users want to find in the future Mi Band 6 .
Oxygen meter
Curiously, some of the new features that we could find in the Mi Band 6 could be inherited from the Amazfit Band 6 , a wearable from the second Xiaomi firm that, among its specifications, has an oxygen meter like the one we find in other smart wristbands of the competition.
Integration with Alexa
The Chinese model of the Mi Band 5 has voice control functions that never saw the light of day in our country. The Alexa boom in Spain could mean that, as is the case (again) with the Amazfit bracelet, the Amazon virtual assistant will be integrated to control an infinity of home automation devices from the Xiaomi bracelet itself.
More screen and fewer frames
The screen of the Xiaomi Mi Band 5 is 20% larger than that of the Mi Band 4 while offering a higher brightness, 450 nits, but still sports a somewhat outdated design compared to the options of the competition. Perhaps it is a good time for Xiaomi to imitate other brands and implement a somewhat larger panel, with smaller frames and the possibility of adapting better to the wrist, which would also give space for a larger battery without sacrificing too much the dimensions of the device. .

More battery
We have just said it, the Mi band 5 , despite mounting a larger screen than its predecessor, offers a smaller capacity cell. If we increase the screen and, therefore, the internal space of the bracelet, Xiaomi could be encouraged to integrate a battery with a higher capacity that would make it unnecessary to charge the bracelet every week and a half, a figure that is already quite generous.
NFC please
The great pending point of the Xiaomi bracelets, pending for the Mi Band 6 . The versions with NFC of the wearable devices of the Chinese firm have arrived in Spain late, badly or, directly, they have not been commercialized. Hopefully the manufacturer takes us into account this year and realizes that NFC payments are the order of the day also within our borders.
