Photoshop adapts to everyone and helps us on social networks

It is something that we have already spoken to you on countless occasions, we refer to the possibilities offered by a program like Photoshop . This presents us with everything we need so that we can unleash our imagination and creativity on the PC. This is a photo retouching and design software with which we can create all kinds of images, or fix the problems of others.

Of course, for this we need, in addition to all the elements that the program presents us in advance, our creativity. In fact, as we mentioned, it is a program prepared for professional use, but it is also valid for simpler uses such as adapting and preparing our photos before sharing them on social networks . This requires basic but effective and quick touch-ups, something that the same Adobe program can offer us. But of course, we need to know what we are doing to get the most out of the application.

Well, this is the case that concerns us right now, we are talking about the possibility of preparing an image for Instagram . In the social network of images, many make publications divided into several sections as a mosaic. This is precisely what we are going to do with our original photo from an advanced retouching program.

In addition, we will achieve this somewhat original composition on Instagram by maintaining the original quality of the images that we are going to use. And it is that sometimes it is the case that the photos used can lose resolution when going from one application to another. In this way, we are going to see how to treat a photo in Photoshop to turn it into an Instagram mosaic

What is an Instagram mosaic

For those of you who do not really know what we are talking about here, we are going to explain it briefly. If you are a regular on the social network of images, you may have seen how many users sometimes publish images divided into different parts. All of them together form a larger image that becomes the original photo they want to show.

This, if done well, is very attractive as well as striking and is used when you want to highlight a special image. But it is not easy to achieve it, since badly done, the mosaic can be a real botch. Although there are some mobile applications that help us in these tasks, surely more advanced users prefer to have more control in the process. That’s where the Photoshop program we’ll be using here comes in.

Well, the first thing we do is get the complete image that we will use in the composition as such and load it into the Adobe program. It is interesting to know its original size, something that we see from the Image / Image size menu.

tamaño de imagen

Once we have this data, so that the fragmented photo does not occupy the entire width, we are going to create a white frame around it. For this that we tell you, we go to the Image / Canvas size menu. Here we give a value to the width and height greater than those of the original that we saw before, around 5% or 10%. It is also important to mark in the drop-down list that we want the background color to be white.

Now we see how around the photo we are working with, a white frame has been created, which is what we were looking for with this step.

Divide the photo into sections for the mosaic

Now what we are going to do is divide the photo as such into the sections that will make up the mosaic we are looking for for Instagram from Photoshop. To do this, we go to the View menu and click on the New guide composition option. At that moment, a window will appear on the screen in which we have the possibility to select the number of rows and columns into which we want to divide the image . For example it is an image of approximately 1300 x 800 dpi, a split of three columns and two rows would be adequate.

Of course, here everything will depend on the needs of each one and the parts in which you want to divide the image to later make the Instagram mosaic from Photoshop. Once we see that the image is divided, we select the Sector tool from the left panel of the program. We can also access it directly from the C key. If we take a look, after selecting that tool, at the top of the interface, we find a button called Sectors from guides, which we click.

Save the photo in Photoshop to become an Instagram mosaic

By clicking on that button, what we really do is fragment the image into the parts specified before with the rows and columns. Now we only have to save it, but we will not do this as usual. In this case that concerns us now, what we will do is go to the File menu and opt for Export / Save for web.

Now a new window will open in which you have the possibility to select the resolution and the format of the final photo, for example JPEG .

Thus, since it is divided into sectors, Photoshop itself, once we click on Save, creates in the indicated disk location, a folder called Images that contains all the parts of the photo that will be part of the mosaic as such.

Now we only have to upload them to the social network properly ordered. Thus we see that creating a mosaic for Instagram from Photoshop is very simple, in addition to being able to customize the process.
