Spotify Alexa

As you may have read in our compilation of commands available with Alexa, one of the functions you can use with the assistant is to request music. By default, the Alexa application uses the Amazon Music music library, a service that is paid, but from Amazon’s smart speakers we can access random lists.

However, if you prefer Spotify lists , they are weekly discoveries and all your lists created in a personalized way, then you will have to change service in the Alexa application, and that is just what we are going to explain today.

Configurar Spotify Alexa

  1. The first thing you will have to do is open the official Alexa application from your device and enter the configuration section.
  2. Once inside, navigate to the Alexa Preferences section and choose Music.
  3. That is where you can configure which music services you want to be controlled from the smart speaker. Click on Link new service .
  4. And choose Spotify as the service to configure.

Next, you must enter your credentials and allow your data to be accessed. Once finished, you can access Spotify music from your speaker.

Do I need to have Spotify Premium to listen to music with Alexa?

Yes. Although Spotify has already opened the ban and is allowing free accounts to access the service from smart devices (previously limited to Premium accounts), Amazon devices can do so as long as they are with accounts from the United States, Australia and New Zealand

It is a somewhat strange measure, since from the Sonos devices you can access the content of Spotify without problems with Free accounts (in exchange for advertising, of course). Be that as it may, a Premium Spotify account will avoid all kinds of headaches. If you have one, the following voice commands may help you a lot.
