Xiaomi was one of the first manufacturers in the world to popularize the smart bulb concept. Five years later, these types of bulbs are sold everywhere. Lidl has several of these bulbs, where there are also several packs available, with different luminosities, colors and brightness.
Lidl bulbs
Lidl bulbs are available in several different formats. The most basic model costs 5.99 euros , and is available in a pear-shaped bulb (E27 socket, 5.5 W, 350 lumens), or in the shape of a candle (E14 socket, 6 W, 250 lumens). This model has brightness and white light tone adjustment through the app or with voice commands.
The second model costs 9.99 euros , and has control of tonality, brightness, and also color, since they are RGB bulbs with 16.7 million colors to choose from. There is also a pear and candle format, where both versions have a power of 10 W, and 250 lumens.
Xiaomi bulbs
In the case of Xiaomi bulbs, the company has three bulbs. The cheapest is the Xiaomi Mi LED Smart Bulb , with a power of 8 W , 800 lumens, and a warm temperature of 2700K. Its price is 9.90 euros.
The second model available is the Mi LED Smart Bulb Essential , whose price varies quite frequently. Its RRP is 19.99 euros, although it is currently on sale for 12.95 euros. We can also find it even for less, with about 10.99 euros. It has RGB lighting, being able to regulate the intensity and color. Its power is 9 W, and it has 950 lumens.
The third and last is the Mi LED Smart Bulb . It also has RGB lighting, and a power of 10 W equivalent to the best of Lidl, with 800 lumens. Its price is 19.90 euros.
Which is better?
The price of Lidl bulbs is lower than that of Xiaomi. The models with white color have the advantage that they allow you to choose the tone of white light, being able to put it in cold, although in return they have a lower power. In the case of RGB, the price is better in those of Lidl, but it must be taken into account that the luminosity of those of Xiaomi is much higher.
Another very important detail to take into account is that Lidl bulbs necessarily require having the home automation central , which costs 17.99 euros. The bulbs only have Zigbee 3.0 connectivity, hence it is essential that they be connected to the control panel so that it can already connect to the router and allow it to be controlled with the mobile.
In the case of Xiaomi, the bulbs are connected directly to the WiFi network , although we can also connect them to the home automation switchboard. This makes its price somewhat higher, but it also gives us more flexibility and comfort if our house is large and the bulbs do not reach the switchboard in coverage, and we do have a WiFi repeater nearby. Therefore, depending on the use and the price, it will be better for you to buy one or the other.
