iPad Air 2020 Features Leaked Weeks Before

In 2018, Apple broke with the established in its range of tablets, making the iPad Pro of that year, literally, the biggest change of the iPad since the iPad, a phrase that also served as a slogan. Goodbye frames and goodbye Home button. Now, two years later, the ‘Air’ model will follow in his footsteps and update its design with features that have already been leaked in the last few hours and that would be confirmed in just two weeks.

Nothing to envy to the iPad Pro

In the last hours, an alleged user manual that would accompany the iPad Air 2020 (also called iPad Air 4) has been leaked. The presentation and launch date remains uncertain, but if we trust rumors like those of the leaker Jon Prosser, it could occur in the week of September 7, that is, there would be less than two weeks left. This tablet model could be announced alongside the new Apple Watch Series 6.

Thanks to the aforementioned manual and other leaks we can already know many things about this device, such as that its  design will be without hardly any frames and that it will have  Touch ID on the lock button. You may wonder the reason for not adding Face ID since there is space for it, but it is due more to a cost reduction than anything else. Let’s not forget that at the end of the day this device is between the student iPads and the iPad Pro, so its price cannot be raised too much and its features should not be the most TOP either. However, it would have an  identical design to the iPad Pro 2018  in its 11-inch version.

Another important aspect is that it will finally have  USB-C. This connection will allow you to better manage external devices and will considerably improve loading times. To this should be added an  11-inch LCD screen that would not have a 120 Hz refresh rate due again to cost savings and differentiation with the ‘Pro’. What it would incorporate would be  compatibility with Apple Pencil 2  and also with the new  Magic Keyboard with trackpad , the latter being very prominent for users who write a lot with their devices.

What about the miniLED screen and the on-screen Touch ID?

That the iPad Air could be redesigned is not news that has emerged now. Already at the beginning of this 2020 the first concepts that suggested a radical change in this range to adapt to the new times emerged. At that time it was stated that among its novelties could be the screen with miniLED technology and that the Touch ID would be integrated into the screen. These novelties would have been very well received, but it would be strange if a device from the ‘Air’ range than from the ‘Pro’ range would debut them earlier.

Finally we are verifying that these two characteristics will not be present in the new iPad Air, although as a general concept it will be redesigned. Therefore it is possible that Apple reserves these aforementioned changes for its next iPad Pro, which would see the light of day in 2021. We remember that the current range of iPad Pro was put on the market at the end of March, so it has not yet not a year old.

We will continue to wait to see if the student iPad and iPad mini are renewed this year  , two devices that would continue to inherit the classic Home button design. Of the first if a processor renewal is expected for this year, but the small model there is hardly any data and it could rest this year. Let’s not forget that already in 2019 the fifth generation was launched by surprise when it was expected to be an already discontinued range in favor of the iPhone with larger sizes.
