HWiNFO64, PC Hardware Diagnostics and Monitoring

HWiNFO64

Our computer is full of hardware components that in many cases we are completely unaware of. Normally, we can have an idea about the processor that it mounts, the amount of RAM or the size of the hard disk, but we do not go much further. But sometimes it is important to know all the hardware of our device, especially if we plan to expand it or in case of having a problem. To do this, we can use diagnostic and monitoring tools, such as HWiNFO64 .

HWiNFO64 is a software developed to analyze and monitor all the hardware components of our computer, such as sensor information and SMART attributes. Thanks to this, we can obtain a detailed report of all the components and check first-hand if everything works correctly. It is a fairly powerful program, which is not only capable of reading all the sensors of the installed components, but also shows us a graphical representation of all of them.

The application allows us to obtain detailed information about the hardware, from a quick overview to a deep reading of all the components. Monitors the system in real time to know the real status and the prediction of component failures. It is quite customizable with a wide variety of options. In addition, it allows us to generate multiple types of reports, status record and interface with other tools and plugins, which we can export to text, CSV, XML, HTML or MHTML format.

HWiNFO64 shows everything you need to know about your PC

Once we run the application, the first thing that will appear is a window where we can choose between two operating modes of the program: the sensor-only mode and the summary-only mode that offers us a summary of the hardware that we have installed on our computer. If we want to see everything, we do not mark any box and click on “Run”.

HWiNFO64 ventana principal

To begin, a window appears that shows us technical information. In it, we can know in detail the architecture of the main components of our PC, as well as their frequencies, consumptions, characteristics, functions. In this way we will be able to know the characteristics of the processor, the motherboard, the RAM, the graphics card and the operating system.

HWiNFO64 system Summary

Check all the details of the hardware in its summary mode

Once we close this first window we will see the main menu of HWiNFO64, quite simple to interpret and it shows us a list with all the components of the equipment. The interface is divided into two parts. On the left panel where we can see in the form of a drop-down tree all the PC components (Processor, Motherboard, Memory, Bus, Video Adapter, Monitor, Drives, Audio, Network, Ports and Battery), with an aesthetic that will remind us quite to the Windows task manager.

In this way we can see all the technical information of the components as only select them in the list. As we click on them, the components will be displayed in the form of a branch, showing all the information in the right panel. So we can know details such as the exact model of the motherboard, the graphics card or the memory of the computer. This is something that can be very useful if, for example, we want to expand and change different parts of the hardware.

Sensors function to monitor hardware

At the top we find a toolbar, where the Sensors function stands out, which will allow us to monitor all the operation of our hardware on a screen. By clicking on it, a new window will appear where we can monitor even the smallest detail about the operation of the parts. Thus, we can see its frequency, load capacity and temperature, being able to know at all times, the maximum, the minimum and the average of each row.

At the bottom, starting from the left, we have two buttons with blue arrows to be able to enlarge or narrow the display of this screen. It also has a button to remotely connect our equipment and a clock-shaped icon to reset the maximum and minimum values. The gear-shaped button will allow us to access the program’s configuration section.

Conclusions: is HWiNFO64 worth using?

HWiNFO64 is a program especially suitable for advanced users who want to know in detail all the hardware characteristics of their PC and check if everything works correctly. For less expert users they may have enough information using the Windows Task Manager. Likewise, to carry out this work there are also other more powerful tools. Of course, as it is a free and portable application, it allows us to use it and check first-hand if it fits what we are looking for.

HWiNFO64 free download

HWiNFO64 is an all-in-one solution for hardware monitoring and analysis. It is compatible with a wide range of operating systems (DOS, Microsoft Windows 95 – Windows 10) and platforms (i386 – Xeon Platinum) and 32-bit and 64-bit systems . It can be downloaded completely free of charge from its website . It has a version with an installer and a portable version. The latter will allow us to use the program from any external storage device such as a pendrive or a hard drive, without the need for installation and without modifying the Windows registry.

The latest version available for HWiNFO64 is 7.02 , released on April 6, 2021 . This shows the good support and update policy that the program has from its developers.

Alternatives to HWiNFO64

If we are looking for a tool that helps us to know and monitor all the hardware of our computer, we propose some alternatives to HWiNFO64 that we must know.

Quick CPU

It is a program designed to adjust and monitor all the performance of the CPU characteristics of our PC. It also takes care of other parameters such as its performance, temperature, power, voltage, current, among other settings. It has a performance graph indicator per core and a real-time counter that shows the number of active cores versus parked cores. We can download it for free from this link.

CPU-Z

We are facing a free software whose main mission is to collect all the information about some of the main components of our system. This includes the processor, memory, and motherboard. It also incorporates a small benchmark with which to measure the performance of the CPU so that we can compare it with its database in order to be able to measure said performance. We can download CPU-Z from here .

Windows Task Manager

If we want to know in detail any of the components of our PC, such as the CPU, RAM, graphics card or hard disk, we can use a tool integrated in Windows, called Task Manager. From it we can know those applications that are running and the different uses that they make of our computer.
