For some reason our phones tend to lose some functionality unexpectedly after updating their software. Sometimes accidentally, sometimes on purpose. This is the case of many Huawei users, who in recent months have seen how the handy download icon has disappeared from their phone, well, that’s how you can access them.
Few content seems more important to us on a phone than downloads, those that we add throughout the day in our navigation through the networks. That’s why few things are more unpleasant on a phone than not knowing where the downloads have gone.
What happened to the downloads?
It seems that the latest updates that many Huawei phones have received have taken away the traditional download icon . With this before it was much easier to access the contents that we had downloaded from any application, mainly from the web browser.
When this icon disappears, most users have lost track of the downloads, and have literally stopped having access to them, at least in the usual way. Obviously this access to downloads has not disappeared, but has moved and can now be accessed in another way. Because these are where they have always been, the problem is that now there is no icon or direct access with which to access them directly.
How do I get them back?
Well, it is quite simple, because what we have to do is directly access the download folder in the following way:
- Select the “Files” icon in the app drawer
- Click on “Internal memory” in the “Categories” section
- Find the folder “Download”
In this way, you will have already been able to access your Huawei downloads folder. Although logically it is not as simple a method of access as it was before. Although there is an alternative to be able to access in a similar way to how it was previously, to do this, do the following:
- Hold down on the “Download” folder
- Click on the three points
- Select “Create desktop shortcut”
In this way, you will see how a new icon appears on the desktop of your Huawei, which when pressed takes you directly to the downloads of your phone. Therefore, you will once again enjoy the previous functionality that you were looking for and that for some reason had disappeared. Obviously it is more cumbersome to have to go around with these patches to recover it, but at least we got what we were looking for, which is nothing more than to recover the direct access to the downloads.
