We are in a bind when the Wi-Fi connection fails. It is very frustrating to try to enter a website and it does not load, or that the connection is constantly interrupted. Huawei mobiles are not free from these problems, but luckily, we have the necessary tools to try to solve them before going through the Technical Service.
When we face problems with Wi-Fi connectivity, we are talking about networks that are not connecting, slow networks, or connection interruptions . In the vast majority of cases and as long as it is not a hardware problem, the solutions and tests that we must do to try to add it are common to all these problems.
The solutions
Diagnosing the mobile
Huawei integrates its own tools to detect problems and try to offer solutions in this regard. One of them is the “Smart Diagnosis” that we find within the HiCare application. Inside we can do a check of the main elements of the device, including WLAN connectivity. If problems are found, the application will automatically solve them or guide us step by step, making it easy for Wi-Fi problems to disappear.
Reset network settings
It is another of the first measures that we must carry out to try to make everything work normally again. For this we will have to click on Settings / Networks / Reset Network Settings. All memorized Wi-Fi networks will be removed, so we will have to re-enter the password and check if the connection no longer has problems.
Enable Wi-Fi Plus
Huawei is one of the best network providers in the world. It also has one of the best smart Wi-Fi features on the market . When our connection is unstable, it may be best to activate Wi-Fi + from Settings / Wi-Fi / Activate Wi-Fi +. In this way, it is enabled, our mobile will assess the quality of the current Wi-Fi network and will go to mobile data if the Wi-Fi signal is weak, which will not make us lose the connection at any time.
Signal interference
If we are transferring files via Bluetooth, playing music with Bluetooth speakers or headphones or using a function related to Bluetooth, such as Huawei Share, we will have to disable Bluetooth and check if the network returns to normal.
Remove the cover
Huawei phones have countless cases and covers made by third parties. Sometimes they are of dubious quality and may contain metal in areas that may interfere with signal quality, causing interference to Wi-Fi. The next step is to test without the case to see if it is the cause of the problem.
Savings modes
Huawei has powerful power saving modes that allow the battery life to be stretched a lot. If we have one activated, it can affect the Wi-Fi signal especially when the terminal is idle. In this case we must go to the settings of our mobile and enter the battery section to disable any saving mode and test if the problem has disappeared.
Update your mobile
If you have any pending updates, they may resolve the issue when you install and update them. Many of these patches solve problems with the Wi-Fi network, since it is one of the most common failures. To check that you do not have any pending you must go to Settings / System Updates and check if you are up to date with the latest version.
Other solutions to consider
If none of the above has worked, we may have to think about contacting Huawei Technical Service. But first, we must try the following steps, recommended by Huawei itself, as last attempts to get Wi-Fi back to normal.
- Check that the router is connected to the Internet.
- If there are multiple cascaded routers in use, connect the phone to the main router to see if you can access the Internet. If so, the routers may not be cascaded correctly.
- Please reset the router to factory settings and try again. To do this, we must press and hold the reset button on the router until the notification light comes back on. This procedure may depend on each model, so if doubts arise it is best to consult the router’s user manual.
